Both of the ones I've seen were for therapeutic dogs. The charity people brought some dogs to the event and spoke about how they helped veterans with physical injuries and with PTSD.
It was very interesting, and a side of veteran's care that I wasn't familiar with.
In addition to a sizable donation, the groups got national recognition for what seems to be a very worthy cause, as well as a chance to educate the public.
Very well said. I attend the Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas show most every year. They have a local organization there at every show and give one dollar of ticket sells to this organization. I have never stopped to question if it was a scheme to pack their show or get Brownie Points for how generous they are. They are helping others.
