Trump made the lady an offer for the house and she refused to sell.

The city took her to court arguing that the house was a blight on the neighborhood, but she won and kept the house.

I fail to see the problem here. Trump had a legitimate business interest in the expansion of his hotel. As president, this is not an issue that will ever come across his desk.

I do have a problem however with the Cruz ad showing Trump bulldozing the old lady’s house. The ad is obviously a lie and Cruz is obviously dishonest. He did approve that “message”.

Oh and Cruz is a lying sack. That house was NOT demolished by TRUMP. Carl Ichan bought the property at auction after and most likely it was a debtors sale by the looks of it.

Havent checked into that yet.

Different case. I’m not talking about Vera Coking’s successful defense of her home against the Trump bulldozer. I’m talking about Kelo.

In the Coking case, Vera Coking found a judge who rejected Trump’s attempt to take the home after she refused his offer. Had she failed, there most certainly would have been bulldozers. See here for more detail:

http://www.nytimes.com/1998/07/21/nyregion/widowed-homeowner-foils-trump-in-atlantic-city.html

In the Kelo case, Suzette Kelo was lead plaintiff among several homeowners in New London’s Fort Trumball area. Although she lost the case, her home was not destroyed because it was disassembled and rebuilt close to downtown New London. See here for more detail:

http://ij.org/case/kelo/

Again, my post was not about Vera Coking or the Cruz ad(which, btw, I just watched in full for the first time, and does not say the home was in fact bulldozed, only that Trump & Co. colluded with Atlantic City to do so, which is true).

Rather, my complaint is that anyone who understands what Kelo means legally cannot be in favor of it and be a well-informed conservative at the same time. Kelo was as much a liberal decision as the gay marriage or the abortion decisions, only it tears down not the value of marriage or the value of life but the value of individual property.

Remember that for Marxism to succeed, the agents of change must deconstruct the old power structures of capitalism, chief of which is the power of private property. The common law has long held that a man’s home is his castle. The Constitution enshrined that principle as against even the government. Kelo is destructive of that principle. It takes us a giant step closer to full transfer of the control of private property from the individual to the state. Any candidate who is unaware of that or does not care about that has no business claiming to be conservative.

Peace,

SR

Indeed. Scotus John Roberts, friend of Ted Cruz and recruited by Cruz does not object to the Kelo decision. He says the congress still has the power to regulate Kelo, if they choose to.

This is no different than many lies by Cruz...like ‘Trump filed Bankruptcy four times!’....knowing full well Donald Trump NEVER filed personal bankruptcy, that out of hundreds of companies only 4 went under ‘reorganization’ Chapt. 11 bko where the creditors get paid.
