wouldn't citizens buying insurance be better off if there were no govt.rules regarding insurance and you just bought the best policy you could find for the money where-ever you could find it?

Well, that's pretty much what it is. Except no rules and regs would allow you to buy cheap insurance, that you find out when it's too late....covers nothing.

Kinda like now, only now it's expensive and covers nothing.

But if someone is selling insurance that is cheap and covers nothing wouldn’t someone else sell a better policy and you could buy that? People who buy my products already know that there are much cheaper brands on the market but they don’t hold up.Wouldn’t the same principle be true for insurance.?
