I don’t disagree.

My daughter is a paramedic and my eyes have been opened in the past year. I used to think it was just junkies. But that model has changed.

Politicians (I'm looking at you, Kelly Ayotte) talk about drug treatment like it's penicillin.

I don't think people who are heroin addicts and want out should be DENIED treatment.

BUT

We should recognize that "treatment" succeeds about 10% of the time (at most), that failure is the rule, that heroin addicts will lie, cheat, steal from their grandmothers to stay on the needle.

If we don't execute dealers (and, as John Derbyshire says, "cut their bodies up and feed them to the dogs"), we're not serious and should consider legalization.

Profits are too high... jobs too few. If we were shooting sellers they would be replaced before the bodies were cold. The way to fight this scourge is to take profit and glamour out of the drug trade for two years - then clamp down...
