Eagle Forum has published a memo detailing Marco Rubio's lies to conservatives in his effort to get Chuck Schumer's immigration bill passed. "Lies" is a strong word, but it's the only word that fits. This wasn't the natural trimming of politicians, like Rubio's justification of sugar subsidies in the service of his financial patrons the Fanjul brothers. From Cicero to Reagan, all successful politicians engage in misdirection or exploit ambiguity (including all the other current Republican hopefuls). In this case, though, Rubio led a Clintonian campaign of calculated falsehoods designed to sell Schumer's Gang of Eight bill to conservatives.

Disagreement over policy is one thing; Jeb's immigration views, for instance, are not shared by most of the people whose votes he's seeking, but he's honorably forthright about what he believes. Rubio, on the other hand, tried to trick his own partisans. I had actually forgotten the scope of his dishonesty in pushing Schumer's bill; Eagle Forum has done a service by collecting it all in one place. And Rubio has never apologized for it. Maybe someone will bring it up at tonight's debate.

Rubio must be stopped.

I remember when he called in to the Rush Limbaugh show and totally lied about his bill. I could not believe how shameless he was about it. And I cannot believe that Rush continues to talk about him being conservative. His amnesty ends conservatism in America. Who cares what he thinks about abortion?

Rubio might have flip/flopped even more than we realize. Several times I’ve seen posters here state that, while in the Florida legislature, he fought any attempt to pass state laws that would have put restrictions on illegal aliens.

Then, this past week, a caller to one of the talk shows said she attended Rubio’s first town hall meeting when he launched his senate campaign. She said he hit them with a lot of pro-amnesty, soft on illegals talk. Then he got so much negative feedback that he flipped on that and started talking tough, anti-comprehensive immigration reform for the rest of the senate campaign.

And we all know what he did once he became a US Senator. Maybe there are some Florida Freepers who know his history on this issue while in the Florida legislature and early in his senate campaign.

Somebody needs to nail him again on this flip/flopping in tonight’s debate.

Rubio has an enormous amount of negatives - his relationship with Orland Cicilia the former frontman for cocaine kingpin Mario Tabraue who no lives with his mother; his failure to miss Senate votes, unable to handle the job; and his memorized replies as if he had received the questions earlier.
