Rubio: Being president is not like developing real estate

And that's why we are in the shape we are in. Because unlike in politics, real estate has to stand up under intense pressures, not fall down and be engineered according to lasting truths like the laws of physics. It requires efficient planning and detailed follow-through that cannot easily be swept aside by another election. It is concrete and "real", as in "real estate." It is built to last. Its planning must also meet legal requirements and political realities, but above all, real estate is for People -- "where they live." It must meet a market demand; and to succeed, a new real estate development must offer the best value to people who can freely choose to live elsewhere.

Apparently it was a high school event. Not a big deal on its own, but when you start running across the nightclub foam party stories you begin to wonder if it is not part of a pattern.

"Running a country"

Not the President's job. We need someone who will perform the constitutional duties of the office.

Agreed.

Trump could do well to run on a platform of decentralizing government, returning power to the states. He could start with his previously stated positions on education and immigration; let the states operate education locally, and let the states follow the Arizona model of locally enforcing federal law.

Trump should compare running a multi-department corporation with running a corporation: each federal department is like the golf division, the residential division, the hotel division, of Trump's corporation. He manages the managers, and sets the strategic direction. The states would be similar to the individual properties, each with their own local management and business environments specific to their states or countries of operation.

Yes, running a corporation is closer to "running the country" than is being a Senator.

The difference being Obama’s fans would not care, but Christian conservatives would stay home if they knew Marco had a gay/bi past.

And his DUI arrest was with a gay hooker in a gay pickup area.

This certainly has to be common knowledge among the GOP establishment. So evidently they don’t care that Rubio could be subject to blackmail, and they don’t think that their own voters should be aware of this aspect of Rubio’s character.

It’s hardly the first time for the GOPe. I recall how Hugh Hewitt never let on to his audience about David Dreier’s predilections, knowing that it would lessen support for the GOP. Makes you wonder just how widespread ass piracy is among the GOP upper ranks.
