You are right. The book was fantastic. The author taught us a lot about football. Bill Walsh vs. Bill Parcels. Throw in Lawerence Taylor forming the need to protect the blind side. Then there was the funny part. The big black kid was a fish out of water. The funniest line was from an out of stte relative: “I’m on my 3rd beer. Who is this big black kid in your family Christmas picture?”

Didn’t bother to see the movie. Sandra Bullock does not look like someone’s mother. It probably emphasized racism more than it should.

Films almost never live up to the books they're based on. And so you may not enjoy this one as much as someone who never read the book. A single page of text can contain all the information needed for a two hour film. But Blind Side was extremely good and genuinely moving with no emphasis at all on race or racism. It showed a well off Christian family (and Republicans to boot) in a positive light living out their faith. And it's probably the best performance (very believable as a mom) Sandra Bullock has ever delivered.

She pulled off the part very nicely; I especially liked her little second amendment bit when harassed by the drug dealer. She was believable, and if her attitude towards guns is typical for Hollywood she acted it superbly!
