It is a odd mixture where millions of people pay money to watch millionaire union employees perform under the category of a 501c nonprofit. That's a bit misleading. I know the NFL league offices operate as a non-profit, but that's because the profits all go to the individual franchises. If they are playing for their team and wearing the team logo, they are definitely operating as a for-profit entity.
