Team Carson furious with Cruz
The Hill ^ | 4 Feb 16 | Easley

Posted on 02/04/2016 7:05:03 AM PST by xzins

Ben Carson and his closest advisers are going nuclear against Ted Cruz and his campaign for spreading false rumors that he intended to drop out ahead of the Iowa caucuses.

Carson's close friend and adviser Armstrong Williams told The Hill in an interview on Wednesdaythat the Cruz campaign’s tactics were 'nasty, brutal and deceitful.'

'We've been told all along that Cruz's operatives play dirty and were capable of this stuff, but Dr. Carson never believed it, he felt like they had a respectable operation,' Williams said. 'Now we see firsthand that having integrity just doesn't matter to them. It's about honor and character, either you have it or you don'.t'

Williams said he's certain that Cruz knew the rumors about him dropping out were false but says the Texas Republican allowed his underlings to spread it anyway.

'He's a pure politician and will do anything to win,' Williams said. 'It doesn't matter who he does it to, friend or foe, whatever it takes to win. Cruz has been running as an outsider and calling Hillary Clinton dishonest. Well, Cruz is the one running without honor or integrity, and this shows he's just like everyone else inside-the-beltway.'

Carson has demanded Cruz fire those responsible for spreading the rumor, but Cruz has said he won't do that.

"After all the candidates worked so hard, and Dr. Ben Carson had a staff member lose his life working towards this day, to have someone like Cruz and his people deceive and spread falsehoods is unconscionable," Williams said.

>>The tweet you posted was seventeen minutes after CNN tweet.

Does that matter? Gabriel’s tweet said that a source inside the Carson campaign told him. He didn’t tweet, “Just saw on CNN...”

Considering Cruz first went to Iowa in 2013, mere months after he became Senator, he really wants to win. Carson seems to be a nice guy. Brilliant, but maybe not prepared to deal with the likes of Trump & Cruz (the Rats would be even worse).

They should take Cruz’s and Rubio’s Iowas delegates and give them to Carson.

That's nice. Disenfranchise the voters of Iowa. You know better than they do how they would have voted.

Carson has demanded Cruz fire those responsible for spreading the rumor

I would agree, if I knew there's no way Cruz could be certain that those responsible were only passing along what they reasonably believed to be true, and that their worst crime was in failing to get (proper) confirmation.

Would Dr. Ben Carson, Christian, deem THAT an unforgivable offense, worthy of firing?

Throwing the responsible person(s) under the bus would have been the easy way out. That could have prevented much of the speculation about who knew what and when. Instead, I think it must be that Cruz is convinced his people were not guilty of knowingly spreading false information. So, he's keeping them on, trusting they learned a hard lessson, and he's willing to accept the fallout.

Cruz knows the One who's sovereign over all will see this through.

I wonder how they’d phrase it? Armstrong Williams can turn a phrase.

By that do you mean, why don't I bring up that Cruz is not eligible?

If he is "natural born", then the same must apply to Prince Hamzah bin Hussein (the son of King Hussein of Jordan and his American-born fourth wife, Queen Noor) and Prince Albert (son of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly). Impossible to believe that the Founders would have endorsed such a loose interpretation of "natural born".

I remember what someone told me; “When someone hands you their head on a platter - why not take it?”

didn’t Carson do the same

That’s why Carson’s super PACs are all moving to Cruz; as are Rand Paul’s.

“This is the most publicity Carson has gotten since Trump called him a child molester.”

‘That is a lie.’

True, but since when do they care? It’s as if the floodgates have been opened, and anything anti-Trump goes.

Why do people not understand that mouthing “I’m sorry” is just half the formula of true repentance. The other half is a heart that wants to make right anything that was done wrong. Restitution.

Apparently, Trump and his supporters are clueless on how the caucuses works. People have a debate and pull people over to their side. Part of the discussions leading up to the caucus was that Carson was hemorrhaging staff and funds to continue.

Anyone interested could have spoken up to persuade others. Trump and Carson had zero people on the ground (like Cruz and Rubio had) to do so and want to cry about this now?

Trump has no conservative core and any close examination of the facts cannot be allowed to expose his LIEberalism. That’s the real reason for avoiding the debate and refusing to debate Cruz or Fiorina. Trump is a lightweight and a narcissist just like Obama.

GHWB wanted to win the first time. The second time it seemed like he’d had enough. He seemed like Jeb when he was running against Clinton, for those too young to remember.

Well...enjoy Marco Rubio and the AMNESTY & OPEN BORDERS he brings into his presidency. If you’re enjoying the current state of our culture...you’ve seen nothing yet.

Yep. Trump is the only thing standing between us and a Rubio/Cruz unity ticket.
