It just took and Intifada and 1,000 dead Jews and 4,000 maimed Jews to convince the rest of Israel's Dovish community that maybe, just maybe, the PLO was not really converting their initials from PLO to PA (Palestinian Authority).
Two weeks after signing the Accords Yassir Arafart went to visit Nelson Mandela in South Africa, (the PLO's ally, the ANC). While there he called for a “Jihad”, [against Israel].
All the Oslo players, PM Yiyzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, President Clinton, Sec. of State Warren Christopher, National Security Advisor Sandy (Barf) Berger, Sec. of Defense William Cohen, special envoy Dennis Ross and a host of Israeli diplomats all gasped!
What? Yassir? Jihad???? How can you say that??? You just signed a Peace Agreement!! What are you talking about!!!?
Arafart’s sly reply was: “No, people, you do not understand the Arabic nuances, the language”. I meant a “JIHAD FOR PEACE”.
That was it folks! At that point, I knew it was a a rouse, a Trojan Horse for inserting PLO fighters into Israel's heartland. THAT was the moment when I knew Intifadas and warfare were the real reason for the negotiations.
The rest, as they say, is a bloody history of denial and stupidity on the part of the Israelis and West...
I do suppose you understand just how much the US twists the IDF's arm to make accommodations for the poor, downtrodden, occupied Libyans... Syrians ... Egyptians Palestinains? No? I see.
