The son of a former top aide to Mayor Bill de Blasio’s wife was arrested on Monday on charges that he fatally stabbed a 16-year-old suspect in an armed robbery attempt in New Jersey, according to law enforcement authorities.
The acting Bergen County prosecutor said Khari Noerdlinger, 19, was arrested along with four other people and charged with aggravated manslaughter, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and hindering apprehension. A judge ordered him held at the county jail on $500,000 bail, according to the prosecutor, Gurbir S. Grewal.
Mr. Noerdlinger, of Edgewater, N.J., is the son of Rachel Noerdlinger, a publicist and the former chief of staff to the mayor’s wife, Chirlane McCray. Ms. Noerdlinger took a leave of absence from City Hall after her role was overshadowed by controversy over her personal life that raised questions about the hiring and vetting process for senior aides.

Rachel Noerdlinger, has also gotten unpleasant attention — not for her work, but for a man she lives with. DNAInfo reported that the man, Hassaun McFarlan, had a serious criminal record, the worst of it at age 15, when he killed a person.

It’s not like there isn’t any real problems with DeBlasio. Stuff like this just makes the public blase’ when they learn about genuine scandal.
This is nothing less than desensitization writ large.
If you want to talk a stretch, that would be equating a murder case crime story with... “My wife’s cousin’s brother-in-law’s sister’s twin gave birth to my nephew’s ex-wife’s husband’s brother’s love child”.
If you like stroking your ego try accomplishing something notable other than senseless knee biting at another FReepers expense.

As loathesome as DeBlasio and his charming beard are, this really is a stretch.

When you throw in the Al Sharpton connection and the reasons she’s an ex-aide, it become newsworthy.
The kid had gotten arested before (I think that was one of the things that led to his mother’s resignation) but this one is a little strange, because the article seemed to indicate that he was being robbed and only stabbed the other person in self defense - so why did they arrest him on those charges? Furthermore, he seems to have hit an artery only by accident and did not set out to kill the guy.
Very strange story, unless perhaps he was robbing the place with the other four people mentioned and they got into an argument.
In any case, it’s true that it wouldn’t seem to have much to do with his mother.
No, she’s a problem this dame. The only reason she’s DeBlasio’s ex-aide is because the Post raised a ruckus about her before.
She used to work for Al Sharpton and then she was brought in to work for DeBlasio’s wife. Her boyfriend is a bona fide thug and it appears she’s mollycoddled her son into being a thug too.
Keep her and her thug men in the news, that’s fine with me.

Yeah, well that may be his story and he may be sticking to it, but I’m pretty sure it’s BS. This kid’s been in trouble with the law before and the guy he killed was a known associate of his. So, which is more likely that his friend or acquaintance was trying to mug him, or that the boys got into a little disagreement and things got out of control.
I’m willing to believe that the death was unintended but you know, that stuff happens sometimes when you stab people. Which is why you should avoid hanging around with folks who might need stabbing at some point.
Subsequent information has indicated that it was not a robbery, but a dispute over drug money. The kid worked for the other guys, and his envelope was light.

I just assume that when I am on FR I am among friends, so when somebody makes a snarky comment they mean well, sorta like if my grandma said it.

I agree, I think it was probably a falling out between them. He probably didn’t mean to kill the guy, but as you say, hang out in those circles, that’s what will happen.
