Carter would pick Trump over Cruz
The Hill via MSN ^ | 2/3/2016 | Rebecca savransky

Former President Jimmy Carter said Wednesday that if he had to choose, he'd pick Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump over rival Ted Cruz, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

At a lecture in Britain's House of Lords on Wednesday, Carter was asked to give his “assessment” of American politics.

After talking about his own victory in the 1976 Democratic presidential caucuses, he went on to say that Trump would be a better option than Cruz.

If he had to choose between them, “I think I would choose Trump, which may surprise some of you,” he said.

“The reason is, Trump has proven already he’s completely malleable,” Carter said. “I don’t think he has any fixed (positions) he’d go the White House and fight for. On the other hand, Ted Cruz is not malleable. He has far right-wing policies he’d pursue if he became president.”

Carter probably knows that Trump will not get us into more endless wars like all of the other candidates are advocating .

This actually surprises me. Maybe it’s as Mike Savage says. The establisment in D.C. hates both men, because of their outsider origins, but more feel they could work deals and negotiate with Donald Trump vs Ted Cruz. Donald is already very well known in power circles. Once, maybe twice a year, Jimmy Carter says something I agree with.

You’re right. It is laughable that these people would see things the same way as Jimmy Carter — one of the worst presidents in American history — 21 percent interest rates, 15 percent inflation, and 9-10 percent unemployment. This is the same guy who said the American people had an “inordinate fear” about Communism — and then was stunned when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. So Carter, the ho-ho ding-dong president, likes Trump. That figures. Carter is never right about anything.

Yes, you are right about Trump and endless wars.

My only question with Trump was, did he see endless war as a bad business deal or a demoralizing catastrophe?

Then I got to thinking, what's the difference? You judge it by its fruit.

Very good point ... the majority of Americans are war weary and definitely don’t want a needless conflict with Russia

And of course Jimmy only wants the best for the GOP and hopes they choose the strongest candidate. LOL. Trump is the last one they want to face.

I think he is just like the majority of Americans ... tired of Veterans coming back maimed and mistreated . They sacrificed and it has all been thrown down the drain by B.O. , Hillary , Kerry, McCain , Grahamnesty , and Rubio

I actually have empathy for Carter and Hoover too. Do they both still belong to the “least popular American President” club?

They are the only two engineers who became President. That’s why I empathize with them. They probably make an eloquent argument to keep engineers as far away from the White House as possible. :)
