Thanks for this place to try to maintain a stable mental outlook. I keep remembering my high school Civics class on presidential eligibility. When taught outside a politically charged environment, it seemed so clear cut....

How is it someone can claim to be lifetime conservative but always working for the govt?
One big problem with the government is that liberals keep going into it and running things. We need conservatives to seek elected office and be in the government to change it from the inside.
========
I didn't say conservatives should not run for office - I just don't think small govt conservatives should be in govt all their lives. Let it be business men or private enterprise people who enter politics for a time and then leave office.

Primary season is never fun here and this one is especially bad.
The good news is that it WILL be over in a few weeks, we will almost certainly have a nominee by Super Tuesday.
I think a lot of us are prone to forget that FR doesn't get to pick the nominee, as evidenced by McCain and Romney.

I think we can separate men in women in uniform who work for the govt by putting their lives at stake from govt employees like lobbyists.
Cruz literally has done nothing but work for the govt or on govt related issues in private employee since he graduated law school as far as I can tell. That's fine but you don't get claim the limited govt mantle being a lifetime govt employee - govt jobs for me but not for thee.

It's nice to have two frontrunners with some backbone. I may criticize Cruz (and Trump) but I'll be happy to vote for either or both in the general.
The GOPe and Democrats are the real enemy.
To: Jim Robinson
I’d vote for Cruz in the general election, but have no illusions about him being an outsider. He may not be the insider like most, but he’s more inside than out.
To: HandyDandy
I hope this is seen all so we can all (myself included) quit blasting each other. I have blasted Cruz supporters and it’s been vice versa. It is time for me and all to stop. Let’s blast those SOB’s who pleaded for our votes, our support to include our money, and; in return, they promised they would stand up to Obama and more. They have lied to us to many times. “THEY LIED TO US AGAIN THIS PAST ELECTION AFTER PROMISING THEY’D CHANGE THINGS WITH CONTROL OF THE SENATE. More lies. I have had it. I refused to give to the RNC this year to include my membership dues for the year.

Yes that is how I see it too. Cruz gets enough votes to prevent Trump from winning which allows Rubio to squeak thur for the win. Just like 2012 when Santorium stopped Newt giving Romney the win.
Rubio as POTUS means amnesty and amnesty means the end of our republic. I'll blame Cruz for president Rubio, since Cruz is running on issues Trump put on the table.

It’s not nice to have the two “outsiders” tarring one another up. The only one benefiting is Rubio. And there is really only one outsider candidate.
