You make great points...by the same token, the 18 YO men that had to register for the draft during Vietnam had nothing to do with that, either. Even worse, back then you had to be 21 to vote.

I agree with that, but the rationale for including young men in draft registration was that we might actually need them. That's legitimate.

But rationale some are advancing here in support of having young women register is that it "gets back" at the insanity of their feminist elders. That's like kicking your dog because your boss made you angry.

We can agree to disagree on the rationale, and not because I don't kick my dog.

If the goal is gender equality (of which I disagree, because women have far more power than they are willing to admit), so be it.

There are penalties for not registering, though I doubt they are stringently enforced. If you don't register, you can pretty much forget working for the federal government.
