A couple hours before a primary election, you don’t tell voters that another person running in the election is going to drop out after the election, so vote for me instead.
You wait until after that person is out of the race to go after their voters. That is the honorable thing to do. To do so at the time of the election essentially is, in fact, a sleazy move.
I don’t expect that any Cruz supporter will see it that way, and that’s to be expected in a primary. Trump supporters aren’t looking to see their candidate in a bad light either.
But is Ted Cruz a sleazy politician? Yes. Clearly he is. He is most certainly not what he is passing himself off to be.
If this line of attack going to help Trump? No. Does it make him appear like a sore loser? Yes. Advice to Trump, if you want to defeat Cruz, then you are going to have to tell people exactly why you are a better choice. You are going to have to sell yourself, otherwise, you will lose.
There you go, honest assessments of them both.

Any votes that Carson may have lost were lost due to his own statement which was then reported by CNN and used by other campaigns.
Instead of blaming Cruz (and ignoring Rubio), Carson should just say, “Gee, I didn’t think that statement through and how it easily could have been misinterpreted. My bad.”
