Cruz supporters are going to hate me for this, but this is my honest opinion. Rubio’s speech was good, forceful, short, and well-delivered (though I still don’t like Gang-of-8 Rubio—don’t get me wrong), but Cruz’s was very boring and rambling and went on forever, as my eyelids drooped. He also seemed terribly inauthentic like a cross between a televangelist asking for money, a second-rate actor, and a lawyer delivering his closing argument. I ended up just watching Hillary’s speech on CNN at the same time, instead of the rest of Cruz’s on Fox. Naturally, Cruz was still droning on even after Hillary had long finished, even though he began far earlier. Out of his, Rubio’s, Trump’s, Hillary’s, and Bernie’s speeches, I thought Cruz’s was by far the worst, both in delivery and content (putting ideological issues aside).

Trump is exaggerating with the comparison with Howard Dean, but it isn’t just “sour grapes” on his part to suggest that a bad speech was a bad speech. Cruz did himself no favors in his speech last night.

I’m a Cruz supporter and I agree with you.

But I don’t think it will have any real effect on events.

you are correct,, Cruz’s speech was a sermon.. problem is Cruz is a horrible speaker who talks through his nose.. he had the whole Jimmy Swaggart cadence thing going on(which is annoying)and it being so rambling and went on for so long it multiplied by ten how hard it was to stay with it.. no honest person watching that speech could say it was good

If I needed the services of The Donald as a speech critic, I would ask. I (and all of us) need a new POTUS with specific commitments and plans to reverse the mess we are in as a nation. "Trust me!" is not enough. Trump has made a down payment on those specifics: The Wall, support for veterans and the 2nd Amendment but we need to hear a lot more. Conservatives have a very good idea of what to expect from Cruz. Trump is more of a blank slate on many issues. If Trump is nominated, I want to know what I would be voting for.
