Dollar for Dollar, Jeb Bush Was Tonight's Biggest Loser
Reason ^ | 2/1/16 | Scott Shackford

The first candidate to come out and give a big speech celebrating victory was Sen. Marco Rubio, which probably struck a few folks as odd given that he came in third, just slightly behind Donald Trump. But he is definitely a competitive candidate.

More importantly, he was probably celebrating kicking Jeb Bush's well-funded ass. Bush landed down in sixth place, behind Ben Carson and Sen. Rand Paul.

I think Rubio, Kasich, Lindsey Graham who dropped out and others are working with Jeb. That is why they are all staying in the race. They predict a brokered convention and the powers that be not allowing Trump or Cruz to get the nomination.

Trump does not have a single office holder endorsing him. Republican politicians tell the media how everyone hates Cruz. The question which one will get the nomination.

The money Jeb Bush spent was not his own money. It was money given to him. He still has more to spend. I don't think he will drop out.

Jeb Bush losing to Rand Paul is like Hillary losing a primary to Dennis Kucinich— when you fall behind the moonbats in your own party, it’s time to start updating that LinkedIn page.

You all just aren’t spinning this right. Jeb! finished first among the bottom 6. And the establishment plan to have Rubio and Cruz run strong so that their delegates can be stripped and given to Jeb! at the convention is right on target.

You’ll never get a job with the RNC if you can’t see Iowa as a big win.

Of the 374 votes cast at my site, Yeb! tallied 5.

My wife said she heard he said “People in New Hampshire [unlike Iowans?] take this seriously.” LOL. Sore loser much?

They walk in, fill in the dot, and walk out. We Iowans spend two or three hours to caucus. And we aren’t serious enough for him? Poor, poor, entitled Yeb! :)

Jeb Bush has not lost anything yet except prestige in the minds of the voters. He is not staying in the race and accepting the accompanying humiliation without some guarantees from the RNC. He is not the sharpest thorn on the bush but he is not stupid and he is not masochistic. If he quits at any point before the convention it will be because the RNC has told him that it is no longer his turn. The RNC has its Candidate and that candidate is HRC.

Even though he is floundering in the basement somewhere in the polls, he can still provide sniper fire from the barricades, running various attacks against the other contenders, opening up vulnerabilities and generally harassing serious candidates.

No, the GOPe needs every dollar and vote they can get for their new boy, Rubio. Rubio's superpacs can take care of all that with paid negative ads. It's not like Jeb is great at delivering zingers.

Hillary is the GOPe's candidate if - and only if - Cruz or Trump win the nomination. Even then they might be willing to work with Trump.

Until that happens the GOPe's hopes rest with Rubio.

Definitely took us 3 hours not to mention 45 minutes in a disorganized crowd that was like a mosh pit without the music in the back ground. What an butt hurt sore loser. There is a reason candidates spend so much time and money here. Polling 1000 people is nothing compared to 180,000 going out in the cold and dark and waiting 3 hours to cast one tiny little vote.

Limbaugh just now getting started!!

Yes! That's been my take all along: except for the other candidates and 98% of the American voters, Yeb! is on a roll to the White House.

“Trump does not have a single office holder endorsing him.”

That’s why I’m supporting him! The “officeholders” are the ones who’ve been runing the country all of my life!

HRC is the RNC candidate.
RNC knows that neither Rubio nor Bush can beat HRC. Rubio and Bush are the safe candidates and Bush is the preferred because it is time to honor the third Bush by nominating him. RNC does not envision then burdening him with the Presidency. He does not want that, just the Nomination.

Is this one of those conspiracy theories where there's only one party?

Because if it is I don't have time for crazy.

The GOPe wants Republicans in office. That's where all the perks come from. Hillary has her own cronies to reward.

Jeb's supporters were genuinely delusional about his chances. Now, not so much.

The only way they throw in with Hillary is if someone they don't own is the GOP pick. Even then I bet they offer Trump or Cruz a deal on the VP choice: Put our guy in as number two and we support you. That's what they did with Reagan in 1980.

The GOP has shown time and again that it does NOT WANT a president. Bush I didn’t have a choice the first time. The second time he lay down on the mat as did Dole and McCain and Romney. Gerald Ford did it before them. Bush II is to be commended for not throwing it when he had the chance handed to him. He had not tried very hard his second time.Reagan is the last Republican Nominee/Candidate who actually wanted to be President. The GOP is happy with being Nr. 2 in DC. Why else do they act as if the Democrats are still in control of Congress? They get their Corporate deals and make a lot of money thereby. If they lose an election they jump right into the very highly paid world of Lobbying. The Nomination for President is as an Honor for the GOPe poobahs and those in line for it do desire it mightily but they do not crave to actually win the election. Being President is an unnecessary burden.

Jeb will not drop out so long as he believes the RNC will give him the Nomination. Else why would he endure the humiliation?
