Chantay fingered me not only as gay, but as her b***h.' A teacher tells of terror at his New [tr]

Ed Boland stepped out of a twenty-year career as a nonprofit executive to teach in a tough inner city school on Manhattan's Lower East Side. His idealism was shattered after a year in urban public schooling and he penned this provocative memoir as 'a radical call to action' to change the system that is failing its students mired in poverty, racism and violence. He believes teachers alone should not be expected to solve the overwhelming issues their students face. Here are some excerpts from Ed Boland's The Battle For Room 314, published by Grand Central Publishing.

This is why I believe in de facto segregation. No way I want these feral kids at my schools.

Privatize all schools, and the profitable institutions will weed out the feral whelps. Furthermore, if school attendance is not made mandatory, decent students would not be distracted by ferals, since most of the ferals wouldn’t bother showing up.

A homosexual (look at the pic in the link, that practically oozes out of the image) goes to the inner city and the "Welcome Back Cotter" gig is more like a war zone?

Hoodathunkit?

People don't understand a mentality closer to Alpha Male and wolf pack relations than the niceties of what passes for civilized society. There is a distinct difference. Dude is probably dominated by his peek-a-poo, too.

Exactly. This quote says it all:

In one fell swoop, Chantay fingered me not only as gay, but as her bitch, her power emanating from a penis she didn't have. I should have simply walked out of the building, hailed a cab, and gone to the unemployment office. I had sunk the eight ball on the first break. Game over.

This is liberalism in a nutshell. They created feral animals like Chantay with their no judgments world. Then they send a PC gay man into the middle of that jungle based on some naïve fantasy that the kids would appreciate that he is trying to help them. Then reality hits the PC gay man in the face as Chantay uses some aggressive, very non-PC language with him and he's ready to throw in the towel. Its why our entire society is swirling down the toilet.

The way it is going the Feral Hutterites are segregating themselves away into irrelevance from Whitey McCracker-Honkey et al to make themselves feel better.

Note that despite breaking all the rules, the administration refused to protect the children and teachers from the Orcs. That’s the nature of the beast in education. The admins don’t have to deal with the Orcs so they can pretend they don’t exist. The few lead the many down the path of destruction.

Sadly, this guy has been voting for the people, and promoting the attitudes that exactly caused the chaos he is now experiencing. Its called cognitive dissonance.

"The Battle for Room 314," Ed Boland's account of teaching for a year at the Lower East Side's Henry Street School of International Studies"

I was born and raised in that neighborhood. We moved from there in 1970. Big difference between then and now. Today it's basically yuppies and metrosexuals, with a much smaller fraction of Puerto Ricans. Rents are through the roof.

I read an article earlier about this same guy, and at the end of it, he basically came to the conclusion that the situation would never get better without throwing more money into it. I don’t think that will help.

Yes, we’ll see how well it works for them in 20 or 30 years.

I predict Zimbabwe all over again.

The classroom setup has to be changed so as to not let these kids interact with each other. They should all be in cubicles with tele-presence, or those old Australian prison choir boxes where you can see forward, but not to the side.

“Privatize all schools, and the profitable institutions will weed out the feral whelps”

Close, but not enough. Return to a paid service, as it should have remained. Those privatized schools wouldn’t DARE allow the feral to disrupt their bottom lines.

Mom (and, IF there is a dad) would NOT be happy to have written a check for the quarter, and their ‘little angel’ gets the pink-slip out to not return.

IMO, up to 5th grade should be ‘standard’; maybe ‘til 8th. Then, trade/vocational/niche schools.

Imagine: kids chasing their dreams, taught to excel, making hobbies their jobs/careers (that last point, IMO, is the focus...love what you DO and you’ll never dread waking in the morn).

Those that don’t? Well, there’s always manual labor or sports /s

"But I was armed with two decades of activism, therapy, and identity politics."

"In my day, I had been called everything from a sodomite to a turd burglar. What could some high school freshmen say that I hadn't heard before?"

To us heterosexual conservatives, that sort of liberal, queer mind-warp is 100%, totally incomprehensible.

That sort of out-of-touch-with reality mindset epitomizes the liberal, imbecilic gaggle against whom our conservative candidates must prevail.

Liberalism is definitely a mental disease!!

"Encouraged by his sister Nora who was a teacher in a New Jersey juvenile penitentiary,..[he] joined the other well-educated teachers - 'former Peace Corps volunteers, hippie globe trotters' who had all fulfilled a requirement to have lived abroad."

What could have gone wrong with all those "well-educated" liberals?

I think maybe playing off that movie with Michelle Pfeiffer as an ex-Marine teaching in NYC, veterans of Fallujah would be able to get through to some of them, rather than the gay liberal getting through to none of them.

I have a very Liberal acquaintance and that’s what he thinks will fix it .... more money. There is no thought the disintegration of the family, the welfare state, or lousy Liberal government intervention that messes up everything it touches, and Libs/Progs/Dems running the failing education system has anything to do with the public education disasters you see in so many places.

Why even bother sending them to school. Apprentice them to machine shops, and like businesses, before they are set in their evil ways. Do it old style, where the young people are housed, fed, clothed, etc., by the Master Craftsman, and they work very hard, and a stipend. Give the businesses the money the schools are spending. Send a very big, very mean teacher round a few hours a week to ensure the students and read, write, and perform basic arithmetic and have some knowledge of our history and constitution; making it clear if they want their stipend they will behave in the classroom and learn something.

These young Africans have been taught that any and every white person is a potential victim and deserves to be attacked.

I saw it first hand when I worked in the schools.

They have been weaponized.

I mostly agree, but the remedial education needs to come before they’re all sent to shop class. There are a few pearls that can be plucked from the swine if given a chance. The obviously smarter than she appeared girl in the story would not show her intelligence in front of her peers.

That movie with Michelle Pfeiffer as an ex-Marine teaching in NYC actually occurred at Carlmont High School in Belmont, CA.

It is a very nice, expensive (read: White) area, but the savagery depicted in the movie was due to bussing in violent dullards from East Palo Alto.

They ruined that school. White student lives were destroyed (in that they were never educated and never reached their potential). Those ghetto students absolutely terrorized those white students and the faculty did nothing to protect them.
