Trump: ‘Honored’ With Second-Place Finish, Vows He’ll Win Nomination
Breitbart ^ | February 1, 2016 | Ian Hanchett

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he was "honored" with his second place finish in the Iowa caucuses and vowed that he will win the nomination and beat "whoever the hell" the Democrats nominate in a speech in Iowa on Monday night.

Trump said, "[O]n June 16th, when we started this journey, there were 17 candidates. I was told by everybody, 'Do not go to Iowa. You could never finish even in the top ten.' And I said, 'But I have friends in Iowa. I know a lot of people in Iowa. I think they'll really like me. Let's give it a shot.' They said, 'Don't do it.' I said, 'I have to do it.' And, we finished second, and I want to tell you something, I'm just honored, I'm really honored."

Trump then congratulated all the other candidates, mentioning Iowa's winner Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz and former Arkansas Mike Huckabee, who suspended his campaign, by name.

After thanking his staff and family, Trump stated, "We have a poll, we're 28 points ahead, okay? New Hampshire. We love New Hampshire. We love South Carolina. And we're leaving tonight, and tomorrow afternoon, we'll be in New Hampshire, and that'll be something special. It's going to be a great week, and we're going to be up here next week. And I think we're going to be proclaiming victory, I hope." He added, "I don't know who's going to win between Bernie and Hillary. I don't know what's going to happen with Hillary, she's got other problems, maybe bigger than the problems she's got, in terms of nominations, but we've had so many different indications, and polls that we beat her, and we beat her easily. And we will go on to get the Republican nomination,

maybe bigger than the problems she's got, in terms of nominations,

In addition to Bernie nipping at her heels, her criminal problems are catching up.

I think the real thing is Trump is tech savvy and thought the Iowa farmers were too. He has over 5 million Twitter followers, and Facebook etc.

Ted knows the Iowans are still living in Ozzie and Harriet age pre internet.

Yeah boy, The Rube was really wound up wasn’t he? But I can’t blame him, like it or not he had a big night.

I certainly join in the general prediction that establishment money and media will quickly align behind him. All the more important that the civil war in the insurgent wing quickly come to an end.

Cruz going to Greenville, SC

Wonder why not New Hampshire?

I bet he has little support in South Carolina

3 tickets out of Iowa. Actually the results are not that surprising. Cruz had the ground game and 60% of the voting population were evangelicals and he was the clear choice vs. Huck or Rick.

Trump, 2nd is about right and only 3% off the leader. Rubio is gaining momentum and is a factor as the “pleasant” antidote to Trump or Cruz.

What’s surprising to me is the LOUD anti-establishment message from Iowa with these 3 (Rubio and Cruz are too young to be swallowed up in D.C. and thought of as establishment) and Jeb, Christie, Kasich (the real establishment) going nowhere. Also, the fact that a socialist can tie Hillary also supports the anti-establishment sentiment on both sides.

Up next, New Hampshire - not much can change unless Sanders doesn’t win big, then it’s all over for him. On the GOP side, can Rubio move closer to Cruz and does Trump still win. Lastly, is there room for 1 more GOP candidate? Only if one other has a huge finish which is unlikely.

It was a great finish in a state that usually goes for real evangelical types. I don’t think Trump has any worries the rest of the way provided there’s no dirty tricks.

well ok, if you say so. Glad someone can interpret his double speak..., she’s got problems, but she’s got bigger problems than what’s she got.....maddening to listen to that let alone seeing it in print.

Rubio has fooled himself he is citizen enough to be POTUS..

both his parents were still Cubans when he was born...they didn’t bother to become American citizens until 20 years after they had been in the US, when Marco was 14 yo...

Hillary would love to have him as the opposite nominee...

Rubio is a Fox Murdoch type candidate definitely their backup to Jeb.

Look Rubio is King of Amnesty, not deporting aliens, for sanctuary cities and Anchor babies. Rubio is for H1b visas so Disney can lay off all their higher paid programmers.

So at least Trump and to a lessor extent Cruz are tough on the boarder and immigration, except Ted wants 5x the present H1b visas, and won’t have a deportation force.

Rubio is establishment not like Trump, Carson and Cruz who are not. If you add up the votes of these 3 men it is a wake up call to the establishment that they are in big trouble with the base.

Boycott FOX and Fire the RNC chairman.

Good point! I’ve added that to my Iowa theory matrix. I’ve decided that I still strongly dislike the Iowa caucus system. What a hokey jumble of horsetrading nonsense. I guess it stands as a candidates warm-up lap before the real primaries begin in NH :)

Somehow all this happy talk about coming in second just doesn't sound very genuine for Trump. Ya know what I'm saying?

There is just no smooth way to explain that the leading Democrat candidate should already be on trial for treason, and awaiting a most certain execution.

I know all about Cruz but I am not up to speed on Rubio.

Can you give a time line telling when Rubio was born in relation to when his parents left Cuba, and when they and Marco naturalized?

I don’t understand the DNC with Obama and the RNC with Cruz and Rubio, have no vetting to make sure nobody runs who may be challenged.

The RNC chairman needs to be fired.

Rubio apparently was relatively effective with a blitz of slick flyers mailed several times a week and well-done TV ads presenting a false image of his stand on immigration.

I wouldn’t say Sanders is nipping at her heels. He is more like mauling them. Clinton did not win last night in any way. She lost.

No, I cannot, but it does not matter to me because I will not vote for Marco Schubio, no matter what.
