The chair and the shirt inspired zilch. The phaser, the tricorder, the medical scanner, the replicator and probably a few things that I’ve forgotten for the moment, those inspired and many are real today.

The replicator was the one item I didn’t think I’d ever see in any form in my lifetime.

The motion activated doors, and badge tracking/locating are both real today. And transparent aluminum is supposedly in the works.

Even our small town (pop ~6,000) library has a "replicator" now. It's called a 3-D printer, and yesterday evening, I watched a grade-school kid replicating a chess set with it...

Cool technology...
