Adele Tells Trump He Can't Use Her Songs on Campaign Trail
NBC Dallas ^ | Francesca Bacardi

Trump doesn't have legal permission to use "Rolling in the Deep" and "Skyfall" at rallies, artist says.

Donald Trump "could've had it all," but now he'll have nothing, as Adele has denied him permission to use any of her music on the campaign trail.

The real estate magnate has used "Rolling in the Deep" and "Skyfall" at various events to rev up the crowd. That will soon come to an end, a rep for the famous singer told E! News

"Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning," the rep said.

An Adele fan, Trump attended her Radio City Music Hall concert at the end of 2015.

rump isn't the first politician to appropriate the British singer's music for campaign use. Mike Huckabee also shared a cover of Adele's "Hello" on Twitter and YouTube, but the audio since has been muted as a result of a claim from the copyright holder. This also isn't this first time a musician has banned his or her music from political events. According to court documents obtained by E! News, Steven Tyler never granted Trump permission to feature Aerosmith's singles at rallies and other gatherings. As a result, he requested the presidential hopeful to stop playing the songs.

"Trump for President does not have our client's permission to use 'Dream On' or any of our client's other music in connection with the campaign because it gives the false impression that [Tyler] is connected with or endorses Mr. Trump's presidential bid," the cease and desist letter stated.

Days after legal papers were sent to the GOP frontrunner, the businessman spoke out on Twitter. "Even though I have the legal right to use Steven Tyler's song, he asked me not to," he shared online. "Have better one to take its place!"

Neil Young also voiced his concern after Trump used the song "Rockin' in the Free World" during his presidential candidacy announcement.

"Donald Trump was not authorized to use 'Rockin' in the Free World' in his presidential candidacy announcement. Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for President of the United States of America," the 69-year-old musician's rep told E! News in a statement.

A spokesperson for Trump later clarified that the Republican hopeful paid for and obtained the legal right to use the song but wouldn't be using it again

She doesn't want her music used by politicians. I can understand and respect that.

Bullcrap. If I bought a CD I should be able to play the music as I see fit.

The Secret Service uses a Chevy Suburban to transport Trump to his Events. The Vehicle was purchased from GM.

I guess a GM Stockholder can protest that too. Same goes for a Boeing Stockholder that is upset that Trump uses a 757.

Oops, I forgot Musicians are special. They can tell you what to do with their Music AFTER YOU PAY FOR IT.

LOL, that's a hoot.

I voted for Reagan when he was running for Gov of CA. (And for Prez since.) And I voted whatever the conservative ticket was, in all (all) elections, never missing a vote.

I served this fine Country, as did my Dad, Uncles, Grand and Great Granddads... and as have my "kids".

My Conservative bona fides run deep and wide, and they extend generations.

Trump, as was his predecessor Perot, is a mere pretender.

I love many of the things he says, but I'm old and wise enough to know when I'm being flim-flammed.

And, my good FRiend, I hope you will learn that Mister Trump's rhetoric is as beguiling as it is fake, and that who you think is a "closet liberal" just might be a rock-ribbed conservative who has been around the block a few times.

Pleasant evening, my FRiend.

Wow....Thanks for your service!
My Dad and I also served as well as my kids who are still currently serving and were Academy grads.... Not Navy, different services but I guess I’ll keep them....Think ya’ raise them right then they go and become Air Force and Marines.....

I too voted for Reagan (only for President)But you are dead wrong on Trump, you are listening to the naysayers rhetoric and not the real facts.......

He’s coarse, rude at times and vulgar....kind of like a CPO....but he’s dead on right about many issues and has the best chance of pulling this country in the right direction...

Keep I mind I like Cruz as well....Either would be good but I am not convinced that Cruz has the skill set to build and guide a coalition within Congress....

Adele doesn't want to alienate a large segment of her potential fan bas by making it appear as though she is endorsing a U.S. presidential candidate.

I agree as an expatriate English lad living in Canada, with your observation. In addition to that, though not interfering in U.S. politics, I like the Donald. If the corrupt and nasty minded British press decided to destroy Adele professionally they could do this. Now they cannot lay a glove on her.

Not to be discounted is the absolutely mindless hissy fits shown by the British media. This by the spectre of a President Trump. Coming close is the urbane and holier than thou put downs of Trump in the Canadian media. Drumming up their denigration of the Donald. Completely ignoring or just not knowing about the Constitution of the United States. That Constitution does have a system of checks and balances. I must concede that there is some difference of opinion regarding the incumbent in the White House and the implementation of the Constitution

Great news! I can’t stand that howling yodeler. She’ll be forgotten before Trump is. Maybe he can pay her to shut up.
