the scores are all fabricated shams anyway: Iowa SecState does no record caucus attendance, because caucuses are small informal affairs paid for and privately conducted by the political parties.
I have never seen a republican politician that lies as much a Cruz. It is mind boggling the ease with which this man lies.
Hah! I did not actually know that about Nixon.
Yeah I had seen that report about them being made up, and I wonder if that could be considered libel, seeing as how information made up about someone is being sent to that person’s neighbors.
This is one reason WHY I post history lessons to FR;. I hope that at least one person will learn something FACTUAL, that they did not know. :-)
Helen was a FAILED starlet turned Pol, who was married to Melvin Douglas, the movie star.
Nixon was an avowed ANTI-COMMUNIST; GOD bless him!
Ted Cruz Sent "Voter Shaming Letter" To Iowa Professor of Political Science and the recipient eviscerates Cruz's campaign claim in an article via the New Yorker:That's interesting. A Cruz supporter has seen this done in "thousands of campaigns" said it was brilliant because they were mailed Friday...too late to do anything about it.
This could be what gives Cruz the huge victory everyone is already expecting. Will it hurt Cruz. Nope, because last minute mailers never hurt the one doing them.
The reason? Because being dropped on Friday, there is no time to respond. And nothing works so good as mailers do.
Keep “learning” us, darlin’! I love your history lessons!
Hmmmmm? A poly/sci prof who doesn’t vote much?
I do what I can and though some people HATE that I post factual history lessons ( I do try to keep them short/pithy ), I DO believe that they are necessary. Many people no longer know much historical facts; sadly. :-(
“Yeah I had seen that report about them being made up, and I wonder if that could be considered libel, seeing as how information made up about someone is being sent to that personâs neighbors.”
good question. Meets most of the tests: knowingly false, deliberate attempt to damage reputation, but probably little monetary damage. Nonetheless, a lawsuit would be extremely embarrassing for Cruz.
Gosh...I am reminded of who was it...David Scarpetti? (sp) Nixon’s dirty trickster on college campuses. Oh what times!
They were better times than now.
I am referring to the 72 campaign, not the 48 campaign. Did you ever read Hunter S. Thompson’s book on the 72 campaign. What a hoot. I remember his article at the time back in 74 in Rolling Stone when it was counter culture relevant. Hunter had a great article about Nixon that he had to re-write when Ford pardoned. him Look it up some time grteat article of the day titled. The Scum Also Rises. My those were to days... What ever you think of Hunter S. (yup he was a drunk..met him a couple of times) He was a great writer in those days.
No, you are right, I cannot imagine what damage it can do. I have a tin ear politically. :)
But, I cannot see the upside. What were they drinking?
Me neither. That is interesting. I wonder if the local media tried to hide what the pink was supposed to mean.
The reason it is stupid is because Cruz believes he can shame people into voting for him.
The reason it is scary is because Cruz thinks shame is a viable campaign strategy. Coincident with his ‘body of Christ’ comments, the creep factor is off the scale.
Thanks for that info and the link! Pretty cheap data, if it is good.
“Nixon was an avowed ANTI-COMMUNIST; GOD bless him!”
I still have a “Thank you for your support” card from him, an answer to when I wrote (on lined paper) my idea of encouragement during the Watergate show trial. I was young enough to think he had personally signed it. It made me stand pretty tall for several months, being a correspondent with the President and all.

More than embarrassing. Potentially career blighting.
Intentional torts often have enhanced penalties that mere negligence torts do not, and in something like this could work up a class action. Had it truly been based on public record he probably couldn’t be touched. Ultimately Iowa law, whatever that may be.
