Was Zika outbreak caused by release of genetically modified mosquitoes in Brazil?

The Zika virus outbreak currently gripping the Americas could have been sparked by the release of genetically modified mosquitoes in 2012, critics say.

The insects were engineered by biotechnology experts to combat the spread of dengue fever and other diseases and released into the general population of Brazil in 2012.

But with the World Health Organisation(WHO) now meeting in Geneva to desperately discuss cures for the Zika virus, speculation has mounted as to the cause of this sudden outbreak.

The Zika virus was first discovered in the 1950s but the recent outbreak has escalated alarmingly, causing birth defects and a range of health problems in South and central America.

The first cases were reported in Brazil last May with up to 1.5 million now thought people affected by the virus which is spread by mosquitoes endemic to Latin America.

Everyone does recall that Brazil’s science team gave us the Africanized bees due to unintentional consequences of a failed trial to strengthen the bees genetic make up don’t they?

Yes! The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation funded this so-called experiment. Remember, Bill Gates said the population must be reduced by 90%...this must be his solution to the “baby problem”. Or should I say one of his solutions since vaccinations are at the top of his list to reduce the population. Face it everyone, these rich folks are simply evil!

IIRC, Brazil also employed Dr. Mengele to create an army of genetically-engineered Hitler clones.

Agreed. It needs to be more public knowledge that the “Silent Spring” author wrote it in response to her blaming chemicals for her cancer.

Birth defects caused by viral infections can usually be sorted out based on the particular type of defect, indicating mostly the stage of fetal development at which the viral infection occurred. So if there was a particularly high rate of a particular defect in a particular area in a given period of time, this would mean that there was a viral exposure in the area. It could be mosquito borne, it could be transmitted through droplets, etc.

Zika, I believe, was first identified in Africa, but of course like all insect borne diseases, it immediately took ship (literally) for places in contact with Africa. A mosquito in the hold is enough to do it.

I travel a fair amount, and I know people get annoyed about the Dept. Of Agriculture agents prowling around the baggage carousel with their little beagles, sniffing for agricultural products. I’m not sure it does any good, and in any case, mosquitoes are not going to come in on my Spanish ham sandwich.

But at the same time, it’s important to do everything possible to keep these critters out - and exterminate them when they raise their ugly proboscis! I live in Florida, and of course tropical beasties love our climate, so there are a lot of pests, ranging from tiger mosquitoes and fire ants to pythons, that have managed to sneak in here.

Zika is blood borne.

It can also be passed as an STD, which makes its proliferation harder to control.

Rachel Carson was definitely looking for something to blame. I read her book The Sea Around Us when I was a child and liked it. But she got more political and by the time of her death was a complete hero to the left.

She was supposedly the inspiration for Carter’s establishment of the EPA....

Was Zika outbreak caused by release of genetically modified mosquitoes in Brazil?

Quite probably.

BUT... NO ONE will ever admit to it, or take RESPONSIBILITY for it.

WELCOME to reality.

The Olympics MUST be moved far away from Brazil, due to Zika virus, and extremely filthy lakes, streams and potable water.
This cannot be allowed to happen.

Nixon really begun establishment of the EPA if I’m not mistaken, along with OSHA.

BTW: I happen to know of several respected Orthinologists who well recall personally investigating dramatic Pelican and Eagle population decreases due to egg shell thinning caused by extensive use of DDT on Southern California’s west coast.
Also the DDT dumping off Palos Verdes waters caused devastating marine life damage (including birds) all the way out to Catalina Island that took over two decades to recover.

We could be more cautious about eagerly adopting contrarian arguments that support one simplistic point of view, ie: environmentalism is stupid obstructionism, in an effort to expediently make sweeping revision of facts to support ideology.

DDT was and is a problematic pesticide that causes systemic harm across the food chain, just as banned Chloradane was, and Nicototoid based pesticides are now being found to be.

But, no, they're "experts".

I just hope that there are no American "experts" among them, because if there are, I see coming a World Court suit against the United States Taxpayer for crimes against humanity...

I'm serious.

"Bring back DDT, which actually has never been proven to have a harmful effect in anything but bugs."

Yeah. Been thinking the same thing with respect to bedbug problems cropping up in the US.

DDT — DDT — and more DDT.

If Africa and South America went full throttle on DDT spraying, like we did in the 50’s and 60’s, they could kill this thing for generations to come.

But out touchy-feely State Department might cry about a few birds being killed.

May Rachel Carson burn in H**L.

I keep watching for some in estate sales and such...you never know what was tucked on a shelf in the garage.

Does it break down over time?

That sounds like Georgia Guidestones/Agenda 21 crap. Not that there aren't those 'elites' who believe in it.

Who is going to fetch their drinks, cook their meals, and mow their lawns when all that's left are 'elites'?

That'd be fun to watch...

Move the Olympics?

What?

And miss a chance to distribute a disease worldwide that can be passed on through sexual contact in one event?

Surely you jest!

The Kingsman is a pretty funny action movie that has as its antagonist the global elite and the warming crowd.

The ending is particularly satisfying. It’ll blow your mind.
