I have found in life that people rarely show these qualities. If someone makes a reckless maneuver while driving, and someone who was endangered by it honks, more often than not the person who was reckless will become angry, and sometimes even make obscene gestures at the person who they wronged, adding insult to injury so-to-speak. But some people will wave and mouth that they are sorry. Some people learn from mistakes and some do not.
Personally, I am very stubborn and opinionated, but I am also eager to be corrected when I am wrong. That is because I do not want to continue to be wrong.
So it is always a pleasant surprise to find an occasional kindred spirit, not just when we can agree on things like conservative principles but also how we can continue to learn and grow.
