Cruz Defends 'Voting Violation' Mailer

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is defending a campaign mailer that Iowa's secretary of state says misrepresents election law.

The mailer bills itself as a "voting violation" notice and tells the recipient it's been sent due to "low expected voter turnout in your area." It then grades the recipient's voting history and that of several neighbors, citing public records.

Cruz told reporters in Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday that the mailing is "routine."

He says he won't apologize

I close the curtain since how I vote is private. I smell Lunatic Beck all over this.

Of course. Because they’ve learned from Trump not to back down and apologize in the face of criticism. But to double down instead.

The difference is of course, that Trump doesn’t do really stupid things.

I would be outraged at this violation of my privacy

Wow, just wow! I would have never thought that Cruz had the Stalin gene, but there it is.

I wouldn’t appreciate it at all. Makes me look like I’ve done something wrong.

Were he to apologize it would make no difference. This is really dumb and can only hurt him further.

Did the Final Iowa Poll come out BEFORE this news hit the fan? OR do the results of the poll reflect this mailing fiasco?

This isn't about Trump. It's about Cruz's tendency to have an often feeble-sounding excuse for everything.

FWIW, with early missteps in the Trump campaign, he found the source of the problem and re-arranged his staff accordingly. Trump solves the problem instead of apologizing for it. Cruz in contrast is owning a very bad decision that was made.

I like Cruz, but this is truly a boneheaded move. Very disappointing.

Wow, This is the real Ted. This was a very offensive mailing. Especially coming from a guy who claims to be a privacy advocate and against NSA data collecting.

He doesn’t seem to see how bad that looks. People are weary of this kind of thing and I also believe they have tired of an over abundance of negative ads.

I like Ted ALOT, however I would be pissed if I received this mailer!!! Ted’s base are VERY informed voters, unlike the DEMS!!! What on earth is he thinking, and Beck is just the icing on the cupcake!!! I am supporting Trump over Cruz because he was down on the boarder passing out Teddy bears with Beck as these folks invaded our country!!! All voting demographics in this country have changed radically due to immigration our boarders have to be SHUT DOWN!!!!

“I would have never thought that Cruz had the Stalin gene, but there it is.”

Makes me remember that his Dad, Raphael Cruz, preaches Dominion Theology and the very very young Ted Cruz said his goal in life was world Domination.

From the article:

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate says in a statement that there's "no such thing" as an election violation related to voting frequency and that insinuating otherwise is "not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses.

So there
