The University of Connecticut is building a special residence for those who identify as African-American males, as a way to boost retention and graduation rates. Critics of the plan are calling the arrangement "racially segregated housing."
As part of its Learning Community Program, the university has established "houses" designed to match students with like-minded peers, in order to foster development and to "make UConn feel like home," according to the school's website. In addition to houses aimed at environmentally-conscious students or nursing majors, for example, a new house under construction will cater to African-American men only.

They should start a dorm for those whose SAT scores are below 700. It would accomplish the same thing but wouldn’t be racist. :-)

I’d identify as African American male to get in the nice new housing, but statistically, my risk of being a crime victim would go way up. So I probably ought to keep identifying as a Cracker.
Such racist programs exist now on many college campuses - instead of helping or tutoring any student who needs help, some colleges run race- designated tutoring programs and even have race- designated facilities. (Jim Crow is very alive and well)

I once lived next to door to some Asian engineers. They studied all the time. One night a semester, right after their exams, they would play Watermelon Man. Very loud. And dance. They danced with themselves. Not with each other. Except for one night they were perfect neighbors. Actually, that one night they were great neighbors.

Get it? Segregation is part of the complete diversity solution.

If they come from a failing cultural mindset common in a sub-community, segregating them like this is the worst thing you can do. They need to be dispersed and forced to mix with others, to pick up part of more successful cultural values.
Indeed. We are all related at about the 50th cousin level. All 7 billion or so of us.
