Donald Trump Starts to Consider an Iowa Loss
Time Magazine ^ | January 30, 2016 | Philip Elliot

'Unless I win, I would consider this a big, fat, beautiful--and, by the way, a very expensive--waste of time'

Heading into the final days before Iowa's caucuses, Republican front-runner Donald Trump warned supporters that his months of headline-grabbing antics could be for naught if they do not show up Monday night.

"You have to get out there and caucus, or we've all wasted our time," Trump said on a tarmac, speaking to supporters who stood in a cold airplane hangar for hours to see the former Apprentice star. It was a rare suggestion from the billionaire that he might not be invincible and might well not become the GOP nominee....

No he did not.

He did not say, “The voters of Iowa are stupid.”

Find that quote for me please. It should be easy enough to google. You will not find it, because he did not say it.

It makes perfect sense to not have your supporters be complacent and be thinking that we "have it in the bag." Especially with a possible snowstorm on the way. If supporters thought that Trump would win overwhelmingly, they might stay home by the fireplace and have chicken soup instead.

I believe Trump will win easily but that depends upon his supporters getting out there and not believing this is a cakewalk for Trump. Otherwise all bets are off.

I’m not a big trump guy but this is taking what he said out of context. He’s trying to motivate his people to vote.

Hey Phil,
Did you just pay attention to a Trump speech for the first time today? That cautionary word from Trump that you twist into some subliminal admission by Trump that he’s afraid he’ll lose in Iowa is actually old stuff, and has nothing to do with fear of losing Iowa.

It’s just common sense. No matter which state you might mention, all the whooping and chanting at a rally amounts to zippo if it isn’t followed up by actual voting.

Trump has been telling his audiences exactly that for at least ten weeks. I distinctly remember him telling the folks that exact thing at a rally in Virginia in the middle of November. Stop salivating and get your story straight.

good.

while disappointed, I’ll vote for the Donald in the generals and hope Cruz and he work together in the senate and he endorses him in 2024.

Exactly

This is Time Magazine's wishful thinking in a headline.

All polls show Trump will win Iowa.

Even Cruz quit attacking Trump is now going after Rubio I suspect for second place.

Trump is about to dominate BIG TIME.

Even Nate Silver, who hates Trump, finally (changed about 5 days ago) that Trump will win Iowa.

Only way it becomes a problem for Trump is if he does something stupid after losing and calls Iowans stupid farm hicks or something like that.

From the current referenced article:
Trump already has his talking point ready. ‘You haven’t had a winner in 16 years. You pick people. What are you doing?’

I’m sure the people of Iowa appreciate his vote of confidence in them.

Read a previously posted article (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3390719/posts):
I just binge-read eight books by Donald Trump. Here’s what I learned.

This is the way this manchild (as Rush would call him) behaves.

It isn’t Iowa’s fault that Santorum and Huckabee didn’t raise enough money or build ground games in the following primary states.

How would that even be possible? Trump represents WE THE PEOPLE, and Silent Majority in this country. He neither wants nor needs votes from those who have expressed interest in other candidates because he is a TIDAL WAVE WHO CANNOT BE STOPPED.

politically speaking, iowans are spoiled, coddled, and self obsessed by their “prominence” in the electoral process. over the years, it has skewed their judgement. the winner in iowa isn’t usually the politician that was right on the most issues, it’s usually the politician that kissed the most ass.

add to that that iowa is a caucus state — which is to say they choose their presidential candidates in a small scale riot — and the cavalcade of iowan foolishness is complete.

It is called hedging your bets.
Cruz did this a day ago, and Trump is doing it now.
They are just telling their followers that they fought the good fight, no matter what, on to NH, etc...
These 2 outsiders sure now how to traditionally campaign!
LOL.
I am a Cruz 1, Trump 2 guy, but they both are playing the “game” IMHO.

And then he will start pandering to the unions.

The Teamsters endorsed Reagan in his reelection bid. In fact the board voted unanimously, all 21 members. Some folks need to get a grip.
