That's not accurate. Dr. Carson has had staff for many years. He has been in demand as a motivational speaker since he wrote his first book back in the early 90s. He has published 6 bestsellers, many articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and has had a newspaper column and a contract commentator on FoxNews. He has received literally hundreds of awards, so he has many travel arrangements and bookings.
He and his wife also have a staff to run their charity, Carson Scholars Fund that helps underprivileged kids (of many colors) get an education. They founded it in 1994 and have dispensed 6,700 scholarship awards. When my community group engaged him to speak around 15 years ago, we dealt with his staff to make the arrangements.
Carson was employed by a hospital or something. I do not recall reading he ran an independent surgery business as owner.
Signing a paycheck on the front requires hiring people and signing their paychecks. Dr Carson has certainly done lot of great things in his life, but again, I was talking about actually running a business as owner and hiring employees. That is different than cashing checks received for speeches.
