Gentrification has been coming fast to Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood. The influx of wealthier, white residents is being reflected in the hallways of Public School 705.
The elementary school is still half black and more than a quarter Hispanic, but Principal Sandra Soto has seen enough change to worry that P.S. 705 was on the cusp of a phenomenon that has occurred elsewhere in the city, where poorer, minority children disappear as their families are priced out of the neighborhood.
"The next thing you know I have a whole slew of middle-class white families," she said, while black and Hispanic families are left feeling, "Here we go. We're marginalized again."
Now, P.S. 705 and six other New York City schools are part of a pilot program that will let them change their admissions policies to try and maintain some rare diversity in a school system that has been labeled one of the most segregated in the nation. ...

To have students who really want to study, who have two parents in the home who demand that they learn and do well, who have aspirations for them other than landing on welfare and who have belief in their future; and who do not consider themselves perpetual victims.
What hope is there for a school with a student body like that? (sarc/off)
When one reads an article on this topic and comes across the word segregationist the pretzel logic involved in parsing how this word is used and what the meaning is for those using it and the implications that can be drawn are truly staggering.
Note its feudal implications, too. More fomentation of “class struggle” per Marx.
LOL its come to this. Its the most segregated school system in the nation and they DAMN sure want it to stay that way.
Crown Heights was a white neighborhood before it was black and Hispanic. Turnabout is fair play...

Yeah, but “white flight” was a bad thing perpetrated by racist white people that hurt blacks. Whites returning, aka “gentrification”, is another bad thing perpetrated by racist white people to hurt blacks by driving them out of their neighborhoods. Damned if you go, damned if you return — just can’t win with some folks.
Evil White people. When will they be gone for good?
