Don't give up the ship. The armament our the riverines were capable of firing 3000 rounds per minute. These sailors by surrendering risked having their heads chopped off. They could have held the Iran patrol boat off until help arrived which was some 40 miles away. It's hard to imagine that the riverines could have lost communications with the fleet.

This was just a high tech equipment transfer to Iran. They knew what they wanted and where it was located. A clumsy but effective drop by the hut team.
