The percentage of American wage and salary workers who belonged to a union was only 11.1 percent in 2015, but the percentage of union members who worked for government was 48.9 percent, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“The union membership rate--the percent of wage and salary workers who were members of unions--was 11.1 percent in 2015, unchanged from 2014,” the BLS said in press release published today.

But the 7,241,000 government workers whom the BLS estimates were members of unions in 2015 equaled almost half of the estimated total of 14,795,000 union-member wage and salary workers in the nation.

And these unionized government workers outnumbered the Census Bureau’s estimated 2015 populations for all but 12 of the states.

The 7,241,000 unionized government workers, for example, exceeded the populations of Washington (7,170,351), Arizona (6,828,065), Massachusetts (6,794,422) Indiana (6,619,680) and Tennessee (6,600,299).

A huge number of regulated industries such as electric utilities and businesses that wholly rely on the gov’t such as defense contractors likely make up a huge percentage of that number..

This needs to be on Cruz or Trump’s to-do list ,,, gov’t workers should never have been allowed to unionize.

How about a choice, you pro-choice govt. employees?

1) Either you get to vote in elections or
2) You get to benefit from union membership?

Not both — either.

For the most part I agree, however you could not pay me enough to be a police officer without union representation. Especially in today’s environment.

This is why they pulled out all stops electing Tom Wolf as PA Governor and stacking the PA Supreme Court.

This is also why they are using the Flint Water Crisis to try and take out Rick Snyder.

The Scott Walker experiment has been a near-death experience. They are in Defcon 1 Survival Mode.

Some States only give their gov’t contracts to unionized companies.

Increasing the number of gubmint employees has been 0’s job creation farce. Subtract the number of feds added to the payroll and 0 has created nothing but national debt.
