I personally never got into the fray with Walker or other candidates. At one point I was hoping to see solid conservative positions from a few candidates such as Carson. Instead it seemed like the only two candidates that were committing to governing conservatively were Cruz and Trump. All the others have moderate compromises on one thing or another.

My biggest concern with Trump has always been that he would be like the endless list of others who pretended they were going to be conservative but then abandoned conservatism once they got elected.

Rubio was much like this to me. I think Cruz was exactly right in the last debate about Rubio making promises he did not keep. Cruz kept his promises.

Will Trump? Are we even clear on what he has promised to do beyond stopping the immigration of Muslim terrorists?

But back to the point: the campaign and the debates here have both taken a turn toward personal attacks on the candidates. This seems to have worked in Trump’s favor. It is something I think Cruz should completely stay away from. When he did, he went up in the polls. When he did not, Trump pulled way ahead.

Cruz needs to stick to arguing policy differences and skip trying to draw attention to things like Trump calling people fat, ugly, losers, etc. Everyone already knows this about Trump. If they do not like that, Cruz does not need to bring it up. If people don’t care, Cruz bringing it up will not help him either.

But on this forum, I get really tired of Cruz and Trump supporters making personal attacks. I would like the discussion to be about their positions. That used to be what was debated.

Except for a few dozen posters, I think most of us are.

I made a conscience decision several weeks ago not to respond to attack posters. I only responded to you because many posters aren't aware of the long and unbroken record of the attacks by Cruz supporters.

As a former Walker supporter I have endured their wrath and personal attacks for over a year.

I had one supporter say to me "Get the hell out of the way, this is too important, we don't have time to answer scum like you".

This will all change beginning next Tuesday as I see it, and they will essentially go away by March, so I'm just sticking it out.

As a final comment, are you aware of the website that Freepers Cruz supporters go to and conspire to 'burn down FreeRepublic'? And some of these are still here on FR, trying to throw as much digested food against everyone as they can.

Cruz flip flopped on illegal immigration and it's still not clear exactly where he's at...That gives him room to flip flop again...Cruz said he would rescind all of Obama's illegal executive orders...That's not good enough...All of Obama's unethical orders need to be rescinded as well...

Will Trump? Are we even clear on what he has promised to do beyond stopping the immigration of Muslim terrorists?

Trump has been as clear as he can afford to on many issues...Did you notice how Cruz stole Trump's thunder when he pretty much copied Trumps position word for word on Obamacare and steal it for his own???

Bush did the exact same thing with his position on the Veteran's administration...Just about word for word of Trump's proposal...Scoundrels...
