The wife of an American pastor who was imprisoned for nearly four years in Iran filed court documents to legally separate from him the same day he returned home to Idaho, court records show.
Saeed Abedini was one of four Americans released in Iran under a negotiated prisoner exchange on Jan. 16. The U.S. agreed to free seven Iranians as part of the agreement.

Not at all unexpected.
Happened quite often to POW’s coming back from Vietnam.
(Jan 6)The erasure of Pastor Saeed occurred sooner than I thought.
We will see what comes out. I'm not impressed with Nagmeh. I think she liked the attention she got as the wife of a martyr.
Well said .
Really sad. She probably had given up on him ever being released and had “moved on” with her life, whatever that means. He knew this was coming as she didn’t fly to Germany to meet him and didn’t immediately meet him when he arrived in the United States. His parents, sister and Rev. Franklin Graham were there. She wasn’t scheduled to meet him with the children until Monday of this week.
Gone for four years? Yeah, me thinks there’s another in the picture.
I was worried about this when she issued the statement saying that there would have to be a time of adjustment after her husband got back.
The statement made sense; just her publication of it struck me as problematical. I was not surprised to read this.
There had been rumors that there was some abuse in the past. That is neither here nor there regarding his release.
I’m withholding judgement though.
Joining him in prayer. Pastor Abedini has been through a hell most people can’t even fathom. His captors are monsters. And that is an understatement.
Seems that she is a woman who fought tirelessly for the man she once loved.
But the statistics are overwhelming that there is someone else in her life and probably has been for some time.
Perhaps, but I, like many, hope they can reconcile their marriage still.
I would not be surprised if she was waiting for the life insurance to kick in. But the guy gets back home.
I’m a retired correctional officer. I spoken with several wives who told me that after their husband got out of prison, all he wanted was anal sex.
Agreed! No animosity against her. Yes, what he did was honorable, but, it can get old real fast. How about a normal life.
And that experience may be the very thing his wife is afraid of if he was abusive beforehand.
One of two things happened...he learned new forms of abuse or he learned what it means to be a victim.
Let’s lift them up in prayer to the Lord.
I guess that’s possible.
I can’t bear to think about what happens to these people at the hands of Pasdaran.
YES!! And please pray for freedom to come to Iran soon. They’ve tried so hard & it’s cost them so much.
I wonder if he’s tempted to go back to Iran.
Agreed.
They have children. She may have worked for his release for their sake, and still for whatever reason, not wished to live with him again as his wife.
