Similar thing happened in Dec. ‘91, just prior to Desert Storm. I lived on a NE Atlantic island, near the shore and witnessed several. They did not seem to emanate from an aerial phenomenon. There was a shock wave that came thru the ground then it was heard in the air. Plus the rumble lasted close to 30 seconds. Imo not a sonic boom.
Lots of stuff goes on and is never reported.
About a week later MSM nightly news ran a story of a ferry capsizing in Israel resulting in the deaths of US submariners. I didn’t believe it.
UPDATE 4:10 p.m.: William Yeck, a research geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey, told New Jersey 101.5 it would be unusual to experience several sonic booms in a day.
UPDATE, 3:35 p.m.: A public affairs official at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst said no aircraft at the base was capable of making the seeming sonic booms felt throughout New Jersey Thursday, and officials were still investigating.
Kryn Westhoven, spokesperson for the New Jersey Department of Military Veterans Affairs, said heâs spoken to all military units in New Jersey, and none of are reporting any activity that could have caused the booms.
