Sweden expects to expel up to 80,000 asylum-seekers whose applications have been rejected, the country's interior minister has announced.
Anders Ygeman said that charter aircraft would be used to deport the migrants over several years.
"We are talking about 60,000 people but the number could climb to 80,000," Mr Ygeman told Swedish media.
Some 163,000 migrants applied for asylum in Sweden in 2015, the highest per capita number in Europe.
Of the approximately 58,800 cases processed last year, 55% were accepted.

Earlier on Wednesday, Greece's government responded to allegations in a draft European Commission report that it had "seriously neglected" its obligations to control the external frontier of Europe's passport-free Schengen zone.
Greek government spokeswoman Olga Gerovasili accused the Commission of "blame games" and said it had failed to act on a programme agreed last year to relocate tens of thousands of migrants and refugees stranded in Greece.

Charter flights over several years? How about rust-bucket tramp steamer over several weeks.
Some of those middle-east countries dwarf Europe in size, lots of space (and lots of money to get things built). Fly the refugees out of Europe, and dump them in Saudi Arabia or thereabouts. Why does the West have to take care of their refuse?
They will regret the 55% they accepted...............

They may have to pay them to leave. Where to is anybodies guess. The Swedes are screwed.
They had better lock them up until they get around to it. An immigrant found out he was to be deported and stabbed a mother and son to death in an Ikea store. He used a knife he grabbed in the kitchen department. Another person was injured.
Good luck finding them.

Several years huh? I wonder how much "damage" these chumps will do, before they are deported? Will the deportees who DO get on an aircraft, try to destroy a deportation aircraft inflight? Will the different countries refuse to accept them?
I think the U.S. won the lottery when we accepted all those Vietnamese refugees about 30 years ago.
Europe should be so lucky.
I read that the kid that killed a social worker was being deported to Denmark. They just send them to the last “country” they came from. Insanity!
They should use cheap gliders like they used in WWII to deploy troops.
Let them fly it, and if they start to whack out during the flight....cut em loose.
