I was astounded to hear to Rush Limbaugh yesterday say essentially that he didn't get why Donald Trump was saying that he liked Nancy Pelosi and other high profile liberal politicians, and that he could work with them as well as the Republican establishment to get things done in Washington.
*snip*
Sean Hannity, Geraldo Rivera and Tucker Carlson seemed dumbfounded last night on the Hannity show that Trump has chosen to revive a feud with Fox News by citing unfairness as a reason for opting out of Thursday's debate.
What Limbaugh and Fox News fail to understand is that everything Donald Trump does is part of a calculated strategy to do exactly what he boasts most about - winning.
Trump literally wrote the book on how to negotiate the best deal. And the entire point of negotiating a deal is to win. But not just win - to position yourself with a mandate to do whatever you need to do after you win to get the biggest profit. And most importantly, position yourself with enough leverage over your opponents that the next time you meet they don't stand a chance.
About a week ago or so I heard someone question Trump about his admission that he would gladly negotiate with Pelosi and Reed to get his agenda passed. Of course the reporter followed-up by telling Trump that Republicans have tried that in the past and it didn't work. Then Trump said something that few people, other than his supporters, picked up on. Trump said you're exactly right, but I will win.
So what's the strategy that Limbaugh and Fox News don't understand?
Trump doesn't just want to win a presidential election; Trump wants to win a mandate presidential election.

I’m speaking of your realization that we all know he is a pansy. It’s your hatred that forms the basis of such nonsense. I happen to think it was a very courageous decision. He knew he would have the kind of bed wetting reaction you display from the media and establishment. And yet he still poked Fox in the eye. He could have taken the blatant bias lying down, like Ted has chosen to do after the “heard from God lately” dig and his dumbfounded reaction in Waterloo. Enjoy your delusion. Can’t wait for Monday. Go Trump!
I have to chuckle. Remember a short time ago, Trump started saying that Cruz is a nasty guy?
Trump doesn’t particularly care if Cruz is or isn’t.
The idea was to get that out there before Cruz’s PACs and Cruz started getting nasty in Iowa.
People will look at those ads and think, Trump must be right, Cruz is a nasty guy”.
LOL
He already has and he really doesn’t hide it. Rush has his head so far up Cruz’s backside that they are sharing eyeballs.
If what you say is true about Trump there should be legions of people, who know him personally, telling the public about him.
Ex-employees, ex-friends, ex-anybody.
Where are they?
Agree. It was very telling when he did not treat Beck’s swearing in like the fiasco it was. Instead devoting the show to Donald concern seminar callers. If it was any other candidate besides Cruz, you know Rush would have pilloried the fool. Mortally.
I’d give you the list if I really thought you cared.
More like Carlos Danger.
Trump pays Carlos to be friends with him.
Maybe a little Chucky Schumer. Chucky is another bought and paid for friend.
“What scares me the most is that he doesn’t care as much about the Supreme Court as do the Democrats.”
Courts write OPINIONS, not legally binding diktates. The only way a court OPINION can become law is if a legislature writes a law that agrees with a court’s OPINION. There’s nothing in the constitution that allows courts to nullify or create law.
We better get this corrected if we want our constitutional republic back.
Keith Edwards - national speaker?
I should believe some “national speaker” I never heard of over people with a long track record on important issues?
No way.
I don’t have the slightest clue what you are talking about.
Did you respond to the wrong person?
>> I’m wondering if today is the day that Rush comes out and endorses Cruz <<
I suspect that Rush lacks the guts to do so. He certainly can dish it out, but maybe he can’t take it.
>> Trump has his own reality distortion field that will work until it doesn’t <<
And if it doesn’t work out, he simply has his lawyers conjure up a bankruptcy filing — so that he may walk away and leave others holding the bag.
I don’t know. Maybe. I think he may already know that the everybody’s last gasp attempt, in the form of Cruz, to stop Donald is doomed. No Canadians & no lawyers. Doesn’t matter if Beck swore him in already. Go Trump!
Hmm. Interesting!
How about this one, after the Dhims sweep the 2018 Congressional elections:
Majority Leaders Pelosi and Schumer: We want Obama and Hilary on the Supreme Court, to replace the deceased Scalia and the retiring Thomas.
Prez Trump: Only if you enact a 45% tariff on all products from Mexico and China.
Pelosi & Schumer: Leave out Mexico, and you've got a deal.
Prez Trump: Fantastic! Incredible! Let's drink to that!
He kind of like Faust but less smart.
>> He [is] kind of like Faust but less smart. <<
Great picture!
And not a bad comparison, even though the analogy will sail right past the typical cultist’s realm of comprehension.
On the other hand, I guess I’d rather analogize The Donald to Icarus.
(Sorry, however, that I don’t have an illustrative graphic. And anyway, I wouldn’t know how to post it even if I had it.)
I get it. When he chickens out, it proves he’s brave. When he changes his positions everyday to do a 180 on previous positions, it shows he’s smart and not wedded to ideology. When he’s unfaithful, he shows he’s open minded. When he loses investors money, it shows he’s a creative risk taker. When he brags, he shows he’s uniquely humble. When he lies, it shows he knows the ART OF THE DEAL.
The house can and will pass bills that trump would sign.
Cruz maybe not.
but trump can make deals. he’ll get it done. He does not need the democrats.
Your premise is bad... He has no political deals, he isn’t a politician.
Look at THE DEALS he’s made. Read the danmned book, I’m not going to read it to you.
Two things jump out. First, you admit that he has no "political" deals. But that's what he is being hired for now. I understand that you assume his business prowess will transfer unhindered to the political realm. That's an arguable assumption. But it does matter when folks argue that Trump is the best person to make such "deals."
Secondly, having read the book, I also recognize Trump's strategies in his campaign. His "deal" isn't directed at the media or the Democrats. It's directed at the voters. He's trying to sell himself to you. So, knowing his tactics from the book, why should you expect him to do anything different than he has already said in the book. Build a wall? That's the "do it big" from his book, the negotiating point that he then slides towards a "real" deal later. "Everyone wants to deal with a winner"... that one is pretty obvious. He's using the book's tactics on the voters.
I find it quite amusing that the same people who tell me to read his book don't even recognize when they are the targets of the same strategies...
