Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump defended Planned Parenthood during an interview Tuesday night, doubling down on his remarks that part of the group should be funded.
Trump's comments immediately drew fire from anti-abortion-rights advocates, who say that abortion represents a larger portion of what the organization does and that it should be entirely defunded.

“WHY ? A president has absolutely NO control over PP nor abortion.”
Complete, utter, despicable nonsense. The President could defund Planned Parenthood with a flick of his pen. And his Supreme Court choices define what controlling U.S. law is vis-a-vis abortion, unfortunately.
“Did Reagan roll back ROE V WADE?”
The President had multiple Supreme Court nominees rejected by the Senate.
“Did either President Bush?”
No, because the Bushes were liberal sell-outs, like Trump.
“And this is an old article, it’s neither news nor should it determine how you vote.”
Completely illogical.
Maybe we should all talk about the video Cruz made when he was 18, saying how he wanted to RULE THE WORLD and have LOTS OF MONEY AND POWER.
No, after the PP kangaroo court indictments in Houston yesterday we should be talking about Texas Values.
Because a president can close PP down and stop ALL abortions? *snicker*
Trump is an acceptable general election candidate for me because of his stance on immigration and I think he could get the budget in order but I have others I prefer.
If the country loses its culture under to an influx of illegals or collapses under massive debt preventing abortions will be impossible. For that reason I would vote for Trump in the general election.
“John Spartan you are fined one credit for violation of the verbal morality statutes"
Did he really say “service women”? o.O
I’ll be snickering the rest of the day.
Welcoming in the invading ILLEGAL HORDE will KILL far more than babies.
We've been rode hard and put up wet. There's not much left to "service".
But it would comport with the Greater Fool Theory of Real Estate. We're going to buy Trump with a blank check because we just know he's going to dupe our enemies with his ninja negotiating skills.
No, because the Bushes were liberal sell-outs, like Trump.
So why then did the Principled Conservative (TM) work in the Bush admin? Doesn’t seem like the principled thing to do to work for a “liberal sell out.”
“They also, however, service women”.. much like Bill Clinton did.
I won’t even respond to that.
If that’s what you want to think, go ahead.
Nothing I could say to you would register.
Ted is not who you think he is, and I won’t be giving him my vote in the primaries.
It’s really amazing when you think of it. His arrogance is his most attractive quality.
His record and even his daily statements don’t count for anything.
Did you vote for Reagan ?
I would respond, but it seem English is a second language for you.
Trump is not supporting the abortion end of PP.
LOL
Do you know that Bush in many ways was supported here just like Cruz is today?
Many of us tried to tell everyone he was a loon.
Okay, we got him. The man practically rand the nation over a cliff.
He had a Republican Congress. Sorry, I’m not buying what Cruz is selling, because I believe him even less than Trump.
We’re gettin’ a wall. And that is all that is important.
1. Planned Parenthood does lotsa good things.
2. I'll be very PC once I'm elected. My current bombastic image is just for show.
3. Ted Cruz is a liar and a nasty jerk. He's very unlikeable.
4. The respected Iowa evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats is a fraud and a deadbeat.
5. I could shoot somebody on 5th Ave and my supporters wouldn't care.
Wow! The "Iowa Reality TV Show" gets more and more interesting by the day. It's becoming more exciting than Survivor, The Apprentice and The Bachelor all combined!
But at least some of us may think it's still on a higher plain than Dating Naked!.
Stone doesn’t work for Trump.
Less than three weeks later, Trump was defending Planned Parenthood.
Earlier Tuesday, Trump backed off his demand that Republicans shut down the government rather than give federal funding to Planned Parenthood. Republican leaders in and out of Congress support shutting down Planned Parenthood entirely and shifting funds to community women's health providers.
Trump reiterated on Fox that he opposes abortion, but thinks Planned Parenthood's other services ought to be given a second look.
A few days later, Trump would soften his stance against abortion, too.
