Chinese markets saw steep losses in late trade on Tuesday as investors worried about oil prices, and despite an injection of liquidity into the mainland market by the central bank.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite closed down 6.42% at 2,749.79.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng shed 2.48% to 18,860.8 points in afternoon trade.
Elsewhere, markets in Asia followed US stocks lower as further falls in the price of oil continued to unsettle investors.

They really did duplicate the Pentagon.
Up is down, black is white, evil is good.
Don’t worry. Everything is fine, just fine.
I’m from the government and we’re here to help with the statistics.
Just tell us what numbers to create and we can turn a loss into a profit. It’s worked before!
We can turn massive unemployment and underemployment into a “booming economy”.
I used to work in the Pentagon. Amazing place. It is a massive structure. It has 11 miles of corridors, but you could cut through the courtyard to shorten your destination in the building once you figured your way around. Every day, the building surprised you with something. It was built in only 18 months during WW II, when American knew how to build things and it didn't take decades. During WW II, the unions and their controlling mafia were put on notice that the nation didn't have time for their usual "make work" and "slow down work" shenanigans, and they actually complied.
As for the shopping mall, I just cannot conceive of how the Chinese thought this could work. The square footage is HUGE. I guess here are only so many Chinese equivalent Spencer Gifts and Banana Republic stores you can put into these places.
How would you stock in the inner rings of the mall. What a stupid idea!
Have you seen the Chinese copy of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center?

The Chinese have copied much of our technology, and have improved upon it. For example, they have copied much of the F-35, but took out the ridiculous huge engine whose sole purpose was to turn the aircraft into a "jump jet" for the Marines. Their F-35 version can actually dogfight against an F-16 equivalent and maneuver.
At the actual Pentagon, the loading dock is very small by comparison. There are a lot of propane powered carts going some areas of the building, but not everywhere of course. You also see a lot of electric golf carts in action.
Yup. The actual unemployment rate is over 20% when real data is used. We are, and have been, in an economic Depression for years. I fear, however, that the Big Crash is still to come. That one will change the course of humanity.
P!
Lol
Quick build another ghost city.
It is The Great Mall of China.
“A giant shopping mall in China designed as a replica of the Pentagon”
I read this when I looked up “irony” in the dictionary
Hey it's a military requirement and the "customer is the customer." It is not the place of the engineers to tell the customer his choice is stupid and will lead to cost overruns and degraded performance.
My Netflix has dropped from about $130 to $98 since Dec 4th.
More Chinese have got to sign up to Netflix!!
