At one point our daughter had nothing in her room except a mattress and one change of clothes. We also removed the door. We did feed her what we ate although we told her that we were only obligated to give her two bowls of oatmeal a day.

lol. Um, I suppose FReepers can fill in some imagined context that establishes the approach here as a form of proper discipline applied by loving parents.

Our daughter once pulled the old "I don't want to live in this house anymore" routine. I sat her down at the patio table with pen and paper and told her to write down what she wanted out of her room since she would not be going back. She didn't last long.
