WASHINGTON, D.C. â U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement regarding votes on the Iran Nuclear Review Act:
“This bill was a missed opportunity. If Congress had acted to defend our constitutional authority - if Congress had adopted the Cruz-Toomey amendment - then we would be able to stop a bad Iran deal. Instead, the odds are now overwhelming that under these ground rules President Obama will negotiate, and Congress will acquiesce to, a terrible deal that allows Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and will endanger the lives of millions of Americans and our allies.
“I voted no on cloture because we should have insisted on amendments to put real teeth in this bill. Ultimately, I voted yes on final passage because it may delay, slightly, President Obamaâs ability to lift the Iran sanctions and it ensures we will have a Congressional debate on the merits of the Iran deal. I will continue to lead the fight to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to protect the national security of America and our allies.”
At least Cruz is honest about this bill and isnât acting as though it were some big victory, like McConnell and Corker:
“Without this bill, there is no review,” Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said during the closing debate, which shut off a bid from younger conservatives to toughen the language even if meant a collapse of support for the oversight. “No bill, no review.” “Many wish the bill was stronger. I donât disagree with them, but this is a piece of legislation worthy of our support.” McConnell said Wednesday during a floor speech. “It offers the best chance we have to provide the American people and the Congress they elect with power to weigh in on a vital issue.”
So who was the one person to vote against the bill? Tom Cotton.

At Glen Beck, with all of his problems, is actually stumping for the only Tea Party Conservative with a shot of winning in the race.
Ooops...
At least Glen Beck, with all of his problems, is actually stumping for the only Tea Party Conservative with a shot of winning in the race.
ONLY true Tea Party Conservative in the race.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Yea, more like The Me Party for weasel Cruz.
Off about Cruz.
1. Wife Goldman Sachs.
2. Wife CFR open borders.
3. Cruz with Beck on the border with teddy bears.
You don’t think I’ve read that before?
Your copy paste skills are most impressive, but your ability to explain Cruz’s vote for the Corker Bill are about as impressive as Cruz’s own explanation, and that is not impressive at all.
The end result of all of Cruz’s ingenious maneuvering is that the bill became law, and Republicans got to pretend that they were against the Iran deal in spite of obviously being for it, because all they had to do to defeat it was nothing.
I don’t really care about his wife too much, but that’s just me. Maybe that does relate back to his loans, but I don’t know.
I definitely agree with number three.
But what appears off about Mr. Cruz to me is his honesty.
To put it bluntly, he now appears to be dishonest, and that is devastating.
It ain’t lookin’ good.
Only one senator voted against it! One! He explained is vote. He thought voting for it was better than doing nothing or voting against it. You read his explanation. Why do you think he voted for it?
He voted for it, because he was for it.
The one person who voted against it voted against it, because he was against it.
Obviously.
Arguing that that 99 senators voted for it and only one voted against it illustrates Ted Cruz to be a follower and not a leader.
Ted Cruz excuse for voting for it is a great, big pile of Bovine Scatology.
Never heard that before. May I use it? Don't worry the coffee will come off my monitor.
On what basis do you include he is a follower and not a leader. He gave his reason for voting for the bill in the end because he thought it might delay Obama ability to lift sanctions. How is that following the crowd?
Haha :D
Yes of course, but I must be honest and say that i had never heard it before either, until I borrowed it from the source I originally heard it from, which is Uncle Phil Valentine, a radio show host out of Tennessee.
It’s just so hilarious!
Ted Cruz is the man that we have been waiting for, for so long.......I too hope it is not too late.
I am also ashamed of myself for having a few bad thoughts about some of the other candidates. Trump nasty megalomaniacal attitude has made this happen for me.
Reborn again for TED CRUZ
“He gave his reason for voting for the bill in the end because he thought it might delay Obama ability to lift sanctions.”
Did it?
“How is that following the crowd?”
Because he followed the majority of 99 obviously.
The only leader in that vote was Tom Cotton.
Ted and Trump will clean out the criminals. Whatever it takes.
YES!!!
So you can’t imagine that two people could vote the same way for different reasons? Please! Happens ALL THE TIME. Let’s say two Arabs join Al-Qaida, one to kill Americans, one to report on what Al-Qaida is doing to the FBI. Are the both joining for the same reason? Are they both following the crowd of Al-Qaida followers?
Ah, yes I see, Ted Cruz voted for the Corker Bill not because he was for it, but so he could tell the American people about it.
Never mind that true principled conservative and constitutional defender Ted Cruz voted for a bill that turned Article II Section 2 Clause 2 on its head, not only for this case, but for every other case as well, meaning that the senate altered the Constitution with a law, which is illegal.
But he participated in illegally altering the Constitution so that he could tell us all about what Obama was trying to do with Iran, all the while cruz aiding Obama in doing exactly that?
And then a short time later Cruz appeared at a rally to show that he was against what he just did!?
Do you have any idea how ridiculous you look defending this?
I’m telling you why he say he voted for it. I’m will to take him at his word. He thought that the amendment might delay the lifting of sanctions. Unless you have some inside information of him admitting otherwise. Then I do not see why we should try to read anything more into his vote. Unless, of course, you have ulterior axe to gind.
