She was burned once before by being the second most liberal Democrat in a presidential race – when she ran against Barack Obama in 2008 – and she isn't going to let that happen again.
Meanwhile, the national media allows her to get away with such a strategy by not asking what separates her from Sanders.
Where are the newspaper columns suggesting that Bernie is dragging Hillary to the left? There aren't any. No one is forcing Clinton to take a more moderate stance because, if she has to pitch as far left as Sanders does to win the nomination, then Democrats certainly will not win the general election with a candidate who campaigned to be more socialist than the socialist.
Which leads to an underlying question that is rarely discussed: Have Democrats gone so far left that socialism really is their prevailing view? Is that what is being hidden from the public, by not forcing Clinton to express her true worldview instead of the far-left pitch that Sanders embodies?
Certainly the press and pundits are glossing over the possibility that the party's base has embraced the notions that it is OK to be complacent, that government should run everything in our lives, that safe zones are OK to suppress free speech and that government's giant safety-net beats individual creativity or responsibility as incentives to achieve success.
Both political parties are realigning and allowing their furthest wings to drive the clown cars.

The Democrat party has become the CPUSA. Proof of that is that they did not run a candidate in 2012 as they alreay had a candidate on the ballot, Owebowmao.
The USA will become increasingly socialists with the politicians trading free $h/+ for votes to the “gimmedats”.
The worm is free to the fish, until he encounters the hook within.
Mrs. Clinton will use the apparent popularity of Bernard Sanders to promote an even more leftist vision of socialism in America. They are different heads of the same beast.
Now you see Democrats on every chat site and political blog complimenting and hoping for a true socialist America with the excuse being that many of our major programs such as social security and Medicare are based on socialist policies. So for many of them why no go full tilt on government control of everything to fulfill the ultimate utopian ideal these idiots seek. Say what you want about zealots in the Cruz and Trump camps. Nothing compares to the fruit loop sheep in Bernie’s corner. That mindset they have is far more scarier than anything on our side.

A big driver here is envy, a/k/a "income inequality." What the lefty useful idiots don't realize is that in EVERY society, wealth follows a power curve distribution. The difference is in what determines who is where.
A capitalist society is roughly (not perfectly) meritocratic. A communist society needs someone to direct it, and the directors--the Party Members and their princelings in China, the apparatchiks of the USSR--do very well. Everyone does not.
As the saying goes, "Under capitalism, the rich become powerful," which sounds pretty bad until you hear the second part: "Under Communism, the powerful become rich."
I think a lot of the lefties understand this a little, but think that since their minds are right due to their beliefs, they would slide into the privileged class in due time. In the meantime, they could feast on stolen goods.
Clinton is not really that “socialist” - Bernie is absolutely and honestly socialist. He has no fear of saying it, of promoting it. But Sanders knows limits, and will not cross the limits of what he wants to do his first or second term. In that, he is absolutely honest.
Despicable? Yes. He is a socialist looking at his desired world through rose-colored binoculars and blinders over all ears.
But he is honest. On guns, for example, if Bernie doesn’t want to go “fully Oboma” on them and confiscate them outright, he will say so. Hillary has NO morals nor limits nor absolute values of ANY kind. NOTHING is ANY kind of limit, and she will say ANYTHING at ANY time to whatever audience she is in front of when she is speaking.
So Hillary condemns Sanders on guns, and claims “she” is going to demand more controls faster than Sanders will.
Hillary’s ONLY salvation is her national media - the Washington Post has 12 women covering her continuously - WILL NOT write ANYTHING that disfavors her. EVER.

Most people are looking for a king. And they assume that, somehow, they'll be part of the Round Table. Or the priestly caste, caring for the unwashed masses from their high tower.
It never occurs to them that they will be the unwashed masses toiling in the mud while some geek watches them from his tower.
Yep probably the elitist liberal types figure they will be part of the elites under socialism or communism.
If you see what life was like under communism, you will see that the masses of people were very poor, living at a subsistence level. Even today in Cuba the average workers earn about $50 a month. But they have “free” healthcare......
China’s people used to be very poor. In the years since China has instituted free market reforms, the masses in China have a much higher standard of living, and private businesses are doing well in today’s offically still communist China.
The result will be that we once again ‘compromise’ with the ‘Progressives’ eventually becoming a ‘true socialist America’.
The truth is the majority of the US electorate ARE socialists.
Bernie's a socialist but he's not a monster. On the left it has nothing to do with extremes... it has to do with an evil witch and a well meaning old man with intergrity and bad ideas.
The American people don’t see much negative about Mrs. Bill. They actually think she will restore Mr. Bill’s “good economy.”
