How about we stop EVERYONE coming into the US until we can find and deport all 6 million. That includes businessmen coming in for meetings, tourists, Hollyweirdos, students, grandma coming to see the new grandbaby, diplomats with their entourages, Mexican kids crossing over to catch the school bus to US schools and Canadians driving down everyday to go to work.

Two different ways to deter visa overstayers:
1) make visitors put up a bond, forfeit with overstay. The problem is that it would almost certainly be set too low and that many overstayers would consider it money well spent.
2) establish a visa limit for each country, and cut that limit by the number of overstayers, cumulatively
