Unsurprisingly, every issue that the F35 has can be traced to government’s meddling and unions. It’s a good plane. Or could be. But they messed it up like the F4.
Start building more A-10s Now!
Weapon System acquisition is seriously messed up. The process is almost designed to make things over budget, behind schedule and inadequate for the task.
But, you get to employ a lot of people, some of whom are virtually unemployable without their government job.
Thats the test of the program too pretty much.
Oops..REST of the program.
I’m not so sure the “most missiles miss” assumption is going to hold up in the next conflict.
The best solution. So it’ll never happen.
The system has been messed up for a very long time. It is full of corruption and political pork. The military makes it worse with unrealistic bids and requirements.
The F35 was supposed to be the plane that would do everything for everybody. Let’s pray it works, because we cannot afford to have it fail.
The F-35 is a trillion dollar boondoggle.

It already did.
The last do everything for everybody aircraft was the space shuttle. By the end of its life its only accomplishment was to go to space and back without killing everyone on board.
I suspect Pentagon egos will never let anything like this happen. Too invested to risk their careers admitting they screwed up.
