Washington, D.C. is shutting down as this historic winter storm continues to cover the nation's capital in snow. But as the winds pick up speed and the snow piles up, the men who guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier never stop keeping watch. The first photos are in from the Tomb today, and they are going viral!
The Sentinel's Creed, which these brave men memorize, is:
"My dedication to this sacred duty is total and whole-hearted. In the responsibility bestowed on me never will I falter. And with dignity and perseverance my standard will remain perfection. Through the years of diligence and praise and the discomfort of the elements, I will walk my tour in humble reverence to the best of my ability. It is he who commands the respect I protect, his bravery that made us so proud. Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day, alone in the thoughtful peace of night, this soldier will in honored glory rest under my eternal vigilance."
These 99 words describe the meaning of their duty. They will often use the words "Line-6" by Tomb Guards while they converse within their chain of command.
May God Bless them for their service to America and our fallen soldiers.
Please share this everywhere on Facebook. And May God Bless America!

Love that place! Such an honor to see them at work no matter what.
A reminder of sacrifice. Puts our creature comforts in perspective.
Wow- that was my exact thought.
It is so rare to find a man of honor and to see that man quietly performing his duty—is just remarkable...
God bless them all!
“...are known but to God.”
Only those who have served fully understand these words. The rest of us are in awe.
Line 6 of the “Sentinel’s Creed” as given in the article is:
“my standard will remain perfection.”
Awesome, BFAC! Thanks for that reminder.
And thanks for being YOU!
The soldiers are “insanely brave” and knowing they are standing in the storm is humbling. Time to be grateful.
Thanks for posting! God bless you and these men.
God bless you too!
bttt
OK. I will probably word this poorly, but the strength of these men can only come from the strength of the women that stand beside them. And that, IMO, is the best of the human race.
...bump....
Nice!
It is nice, but more a comfort. If it is ok with you I will talk later about what I think. But between that, my PTSD, and the meds, I should just go lay down for a bit.
My wife and I were able to be there when they interred the Tomb for the soldier from the Vietnam War. The whole parade, horse with reversed boots, the whole ceremony. That was awesome.
Thanks Cap!!!
Great mood lifter for this dreary snowy Saturday.
Thanks!
Okay. Take care of yourself.
In essence participants (paying respect) to a historical event. The kind of thing you never forget.
