Donald Trump on Friday morning released a new campaign ad that accuses Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) of flip-flopping on immigration and supporting "amnesty."
The 60-second television spot starts with a Fox News interview between Bret Baier and Cruz from late last year in which Baier grilled Cruz on his comments about the immigration reform bill in 2013.
"It sounded like you wanted the bill to pass," Baier told Cruz in December.
Cruz stumbled and mumbled before responding, "Of course I wanted the bill to pass, what â my amendment to pass, what my amendment did is take citizenship off the table but it doesnât mean, what it doesn't mean that I supported other aspects of the bill."
The Trump ad labels Cruz as "pro-immigration" and asks, "What is he talking about?"
The ad then cuts to to comments made by Cruz in 2013, when he urged the Senate to pass an immigration reform compromise that would allow "those who are here illegally to come out of the shadows."
The Trump ad labels Cruz "pro amnesty," then cuts to Trump laying out his immigration proposals.
"To have a country, you have to have borders," Trump says in the ad.
Trump's first attack ad on Cruz will run in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. The Trump campaign did not specify how much the candidate would spend airing the ad, but said that the campaign will spend $2 million each week on advertising.

These type of ‘deals’.
Some are being obtuse. To cut deals to reduce the federal budget by 10s to 100s of billions of dollars down from the bench mark 2016 budget of $3.8 trillion dollars. Now that would be conservative conserving tax payers’ money.
I feel the same way. I used to like Rubio bit his Libya position stopped me cold. I like Kasich now.
I’m finding the meek, mild-manner Ben Carson a breath of fresh air.
True.
This man-child does not know what the definition of truth is. Obviously his time in military school did not teach him about truth, honor and morals. I could see how he would end up a casualty of friendly fire if he was in the Army.
Could either be Cruz & Trump or a Mrs. Robinson to her Freeper kids.
Iâve noticed the more Cruz stutters and stammers, the deeper the bulls**t is.
The ad is effective because its TED who is trying to dodge the question. Its the first time I ever saw talented Ted Stutter and Stammer. Here in Vegas we call that a “TELL” at the Poker Table. Ted is a legal mouthpiece, a smooth talented debater and smooth talker with a super memory.
Ted Stutters when he is lying. Obama does too.
He’s not running against Hitlery yet.
With each passing day I find Trump more disingenuous and disgusting.
I started off open about him and now I will not vote pres. if it’s Trump and Hillary.
It would be a choice between two unethical old windbags. I will not be complicit.
The ad is devastating IMHO. Cruz is obviously dissembling and given three decades of betrayals, our b.s. meter is already finely tuned in this issue above all others.
I’m not convinced Ted isn’t for amnesty. In fact I kind of think he is which is one reason I’m not voting for him.
The comment aren't taken out of context. If anything they get worse for Cruz the more context you see, since Cruz explicitly defines "common sense immigration reform" as including legalization. Cruz supported this position even after the gang of eight fight was over.
The only thing Sessions, Lee and Cruz were fighting at that time was the pathway to citizenship. Opposition to legalization was never voiced by any of them, and even Rush Limbaugh did not oppose legalization at that time, provided it did not include citizenship.
Cruz's opposition to that bill was NEVER about legalization. He, like everyone else, accepted it. Cruz wants to confuse his supporters into believing something that simply wasn't true. Even Rush Limbaugh claimed that "deportation" was an impossibility. Only Trump made the impossible possible this election cycle.
So let me get this straight, you are calling at least two sitting US senators and untold US representative liars? Members of the same political party you claim to support?
I will stand with them before believing your diatribe.
The record speaks for itself. There simply does not exist any statement, any interview, any press release where any of them declare that they oppose legalization after the border is secured. Even Rush Limbaugh supported:
"I have never said, whatever number are here illegally, "Round 'em up and deport 'em." It isn't realistic. We have to stop the influx. So you can't pose a question to me, "Okay, Mr. Limbaugh, after we secure the borders..." the borders are key. And then we come up with a plan, I could give you two or three of them that would help legalize these people if they're willing to assimilate. We don't want a Balkanized America, and that's what this is leading to. It's just a matter of following the law"

You are expecting Sessions, Lee and Hush Bimbo to tell you that they all fought against legalization, even though not one of them ever voiced any sort of opposition nor attempted to amend it out of the bill. On the contrary, legalization was described by Cruz himself as "common sense" immigration reform.
If you want to think that means Sessions et al are liars. Well, that's up to you. Personally I think Sessions was just being asked a leading question by Breitbart writers who didn't understand the difference between citizenship-- which they all opposed-- and permanent legal status, which they supported.
I will stand with them before believing your diatribe.
It doesn't really matter if you want to believe me or not. The evidence is what it is.
If you can find any of these people during that fight voicing concern about illegals getting permanent legal status (albeit, they did oppose that if it came BEFORE border security), then you should provide it and prove me wrong.
Because the fly on his butt named Ted must be swatted away first
Before that lying Trump came on to the scene I would venture to say you would not take this stand.
I believe Cruz and Sessions, they spoke of their tactics after the Rubio immigration bill, (which trump supported) was defeated. They killed the bill no matter what you say.
By faith, but you can't refute the facts, hence you won't try, but in all your raving dishonesty will still condemn me and project onto me your own pathology. Very sad.
I debate which ear you pulled your facts out of. Cruz and Sessions were on the news after it was all said and done. Enough for me instead of somebody that supports the Republican version of Obama.
No, you're not debating, you're just demonstrating how delusional you are.
