I will be happy to contribute to the support of anyone who can prove he or she was once legally enslaved in the United States.

I didn't see the word "legally" at first. It's a good caveat to use, since illegal slavery is alive and well in the US. The illegal slave trade is called "human trafficking", and liberal politicians go to great trouble to protect it by refusing to enforce immigration law or beef up border security.
