Even as a Cruz supporter, I can concur with your assessment at post 194. And I was thinking, one of the worries voiced about Trump is that he will (at best) be an executive-order-writing patriot (as opposed to an EO-writing liberal, at worst). That actually could have a silver lining, since Congress has become so emasculated over the decades. We know they will never oppose an EO-writing Democrat. But if they grow a pair to oppose an EO-writing Trump, it might begin to restore some of the Constitutional checks and balances that have been lost.
