“If ethanol were good for your engine, everyone would use it without the force of law.”
I don’t know if ethanol is good or not, but I think it is a bad idea to use food for fuel.
Ethanol is very bad not only for the ‘sacred environment,’ but takes more energy to produce than it generates, and raises fuel consumption 10-20 percent while raising the price it costs to blend (and the price you pay at the pump), all the while tearing your engine apart.
Saving ‘grace’: farmers get more money for ethanol corn than for food corn. That’s it.
Ethanol is crap for a number of reasons. Speaking as a guy who paid $300 for towing and repairs on my 2004 Sonata due to ethanol.
Growing anything on our farmland to produce ethanol is a horrible choice. Oil is cheap and essentially unlimited.
Once ethanol is pumped, it is stable for less than 30 days. It starts turning into water and jello. Water in your engine not good.
