Sen. Marco Rubio says people who immigrated to the U.S. illegally but havenât committed any major crimes could be allowed to stay. In an interview airing Sunday on NBCâs âMeet the Press,â the Florida contender for the Republican presidential nomination said felons shouldnât be allowed to stay, but those who commit lesser crimes could still qualify. In this interview, he didnât specify whether those allowed to stay would ever be able to become citizens.
âIf youâre a criminal alien, no, you canât stay. If youâre someone that hasnât been here for a very long time, you canât stay,â he said. âI donât think youâre gonna round up and deport 12 million people.â Rubioâs somewhat fluid position on immigration has been a target for his opponents because he was part of the Gang of Eight lawmakers who worked on the 2013 immigration reform bill, which included a path to citizenship.
âIf circumstances change or you learn something along the way, itâs reasonable to say, âMaybe a different approach will work better,ââ Rubio said. âSo, for example, on immigration it is clear no comprehensive solution to immigration is going to pass.â

Lets stay on target folks... If Rubio and the GOPe have their way this country is FINISHED.
If they are here illegally — they are NOT law-abiding.
I can’t read this canââ¬â¢t read.
Bingo!!!!!
Can we get the definition of “major” crime? And from whose perspective? Crimes usually seem “major” to the victims.
Fixed:
Sen. Marco Rubio says people who immigrated to the U.S. illegally but haven’t committed any major crimes could be allowed to stay.
In an interview airing Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the Florida contender for the Republican presidential nomination said felons shouldn’t be allowed to stay, but those who commit lesser crimes could still qualify. In this interview, he didn’t specify whether those allowed to stay would ever be able to become citizens.
“If you’re a criminal alien, no, you can’t stay. If you’re someone that hasn’t been here for a very long time, you can’t stay,” he said. “I don’t think you’re gonna round up and deport 12 million people.”
Rubio’s somewhat fluid position on immigration has been a target for his opponents because he was part of the Gang of Eight lawmakers who worked on the 2013 immigration reform bill, which included a path to citizenship.
“If circumstances change or you learn something along the way, it’s reasonable to say, ‘Maybe a different approach will work better,’” Rubio said. “So, for example, on immigration it is clear no comprehensive solution to immigration is going to pass.”
Bingo.
If they are here illegally â they are NOT law-abiding.
This is very True!!!!
...Until they break the law. Which in the case of SLEEPER CELLS...is nota good deal for THE LEGAL, TAXPAYING US CITIZEN IS IT, DONDI?
But aren’t ILLEGAL immigrants already criminals???
You can never convince me they didn’t know they were violating our laws to either get here or stay past their visa.
They chose to break the law. What if they do so, in a thousand different ways, again, when it is convenient for them to do so?
I wouldn’t trust them.
Aside from the fact that, by definition, being here illegally makes them not law-abiding, commission of "lesser crimes" also means they're not law-abiding. Words have no meaning anymore -- at least whenever a politician is speaking.
Careful Ben, you are not suppose to show the Senators for the idiots they are!
Most of us consider breaking into someone’s home and squatting there while eating free food and expecting them to pay for medical expenses etc. to be major crime.
Illegal aliens must commit multiple crimes DAILY to further their illegal presence in the USA. Illegal entry is just the start. None of them can be described as “law-abiding”.
What about this typical misdemeanors:
Assault resulting in bodily injury
DUI/DWI (see also Felony DUI)
Misdemeanor Domestic Violence
Burglary
Resisting arrest
Obscenity
Perjury
Possession of a controlled substance
Property theft over $1,000
Unlawful possession of a weapon
Violating a restraining order
Marco, say goodnight!
Genius Rubio fails to understand.
“Marco, say goodnight!”
Make no mistake folks - Marco dropped this line at the height of the Cruz vs Trump fight for a reason... He’s hoping WE will forget it.
Tricky, tricky Marco...
Marco and his KISS boots can hit the door!
