This story interests me. I went to school at Ft. Eustis VA in 1966 to become a Mohawk mechanic. There was, as I recall, a guy named Graffe in my class and I think his first name was Paul. Makes me wonder if there’s any chance he decided later to go to flight school to become an OV-1 pilot. Probably not but sort of a coincidence just the same.

BTW, those were great planes. Kind of a little hotrod.

I just found a CPT Paul Leroy Graffe, KIA, at the Vietnam Virtual Wall.

It appears your friend was the pilot of the Mohawk that PFC Cunningham was a crewman on.
